CHAPTER 2

I’m awake.

(hears snoring)

Who’s in the tub with me?!

Oh. It’s Oskar! Why is he here?

(didn’t say good night to him, maybe he got worried)

Hmmm. Yes, he was probably just a little lonely. ‘Cause I was gone last night and left him here alone.

. . . I like just laying here with him. Maybe I’ll just stay here awhile. Get up in a minute or two.

Nice to be warm for a change.

(can feel to his heartbeat against my back, so fast compared to mine)

I. Letting Them In

And this word plunged me into fury and I bared
my teeth under my hood and I leaned towards his
fresh neck and he didn't flinch at all, and I said:
–Why aren't you afraid of me?

Marcel Schwob, The Children's Crusade

A middle-aged man sat at the dining room table, drinking coffee after having finished a simple breakfast. He had not slept well. It would soon be morning, and he could see through the windows that the sky was no longer completely pitch-black.

Post-ending fan fiction, mainly novel-based but should fit with the film plotwise. I've tried to be 'realistic,' which I found difficult in matters such as who (and more importantly, why) would willingly help Oskar and Eli. Hopefully I've managed to not spoonfeed the reader without being too confusing. Let me know what you think, and please point out anything that would be too outlandish in Sweden (which I've never set foot on) or language errors.

There is an alternative ending version, that would start right after 'The Vision.'

CHAPTER I

Eli had arisen just after dark. She had come out of the bathroom without saying much, wearing the same oversized, black sweatshirt with the German Men’s National Hockey Team logo she'd had on yesterday.

Oskar had woken up a little earlier, around 2 p.m. For several weeks, he had been moving his bedtime later and later so he could spend more time with her at night. Yesterday, he’d turned in around 9 a.m. He slept on a mattress they had put down in the bedroom with a few blankets and a pillow.

Love on a Train

This was the first drawing I did of Eli and Oskar as I sat watching the film for about the 50th time. It is also where I started writing about them as I wondered...where would they go from here?

Changed the title to more suit the coming story.

No one close. I should go down, find somewhere else...

Lacke: "Wait! Can't we taIk about it?"

No - the steps. Someone coming up the steps.

She is in a hurry. She won't look up. She will come right underneath...

Ha ha! Look at how happy you are. You're almost dancing! I like seeing you happy. Maybe you can teach me how to be happy.

Oskar: "We're not really allowed to be in here."

Oskar At The Pool

I wonder if sometime I could go swimming with Oskar? Could I get one of those things the girls are wearing? But I couldn't change into it here. They would see. Is it fun to swim? But that's not really swimming. Oskar is just thrashing around in the water. Is that some sort of exercise?
