Re: Was Eli always Elias?

And yet from the Narrator of Hakan’s own thoughts: But since all this with Oskar had started something had changed. A ... regression. Eli had started to behave more and more like the child her appearance gave her out to be; had started to move her body in a loose-limbed and careless way, use childi...

Re: How does Eli stay under the radar?

So, Eli's supposed to be centuries old and not a newbie when it comes to feeding. Ze's been going around eating people for a long time. Why is it only this time with Hakan that attracts significant attention. I mean, hir MO stays basically the same: body drained of blood, neck broken. No matter how...

Re: The castration

When I read the novel I interpreted that whole scene as being relatively short. Elias is tied down, castrated, vampire lord drinks blood from wound, the glowing rod is used to cauterize the wound (not specifically as torture, which is not really implied by the story), vampire lord bites and Eli is ...

Re: The castration

I always figured Eli was hallucinating the Man in the Wig on the TV, and that her reaction (becoming frightened and waiting for him to grab her neck) was a conditioned response. Yes, that's my view too. But the Miss Ellie clue was still interesting. Yeah she was on a big trip and like on mushrooms ...

Re: Håkan and the jogger

I thought the same thing but like drakkar said it's probably to show what took a long time to explain in the book that Hakan isn't a born killer and isn't at all good at it. Like with his next botched attempt when he tries to use the window to hold the torch in place. In the book the area he killed ...

Re: The castration

I haven't got the book to hand right now but when Eli was hallucinating in the old womans house Eli heard the lord saying something like "come back to us Eli". That makes me think that the lord had intentions for Eli and Eli escaped. He obviously infected Eli deliberately and the castration was eith...

Re: Could Eli grow older? *May contain spoilers*

I don't think there are any circumstances under which Eli would suddenly start aging, nor would I want there to be. Eli wouldn't be Eli for me if he wasn't the forever 12 year old that he is. Good point. An Eli that ages just isn't the same, it would fundamentally change her. It would change her bu...

Re: Finally I got it!

Those are pretty covers. The left image is a box isn't it? Now if the other dvds and blu rays had that cover as insert cover to put in front, it wouldn't be so hard to convince friends/family that it's not scary ! I agree. I don't like the cover of the one I have. It's just white with a tree in the...

Re: The castration

What do people think the ritual was for? The whole thing from 'the competition' to the dice rolling to the castration and the then unmentioned but obvious infection of Eli? For nothing other than the lord's pleasure. Yeah that is on possibility I thought. I also thought though that the lord had bee...
