Its the combination of a human conscience and a killer parasite! When its just the parasite it doesn't. But when the person is still alive some part of their humanity still exists.

That is true. In the book you have more insight into every aspect so seeing Eli acting like a kid has much more meaning than it would in the film.

I liked Tommy too. I appreciated all the characters including Eli and Oskar. Tommy I especially liked for the background characters(even though in the book none of them are really "Background").
