I think it also added to ambiguity, because TA said himself that we can make our own ending, first that Eli saved Oskar and that they left (in that case as Wolfie said: I think that it is one of the few places in this film where Tomas sacrificed realism for dramatic tension. ), or that Oskar drowned...

my opinion is that Eli after 200 year does the "breathing act" automatically when in contact with humans (could be a defense mechanism... kind of, you know like when for example bugs and birds play dead when in danger or something) but for Virginia this is all new, that is why she is so concentrated...

I'd always imagined Eli's wings to be diaphanous and ephemeral. Witnesses seem unsure as to whether or not they actually saw them. A bit like in this picture. This awesome. but all in all in this movie Eli or Lina does more work by acting without words I would say that it's 70 to 30 (acting to speaking) so I think it's not that important, but sure I would like to see some interview with Elif
