20th Anniversary Edition announced

Let the Right One In celebrates 20 years! In 2004, John Ajvide Lindqvist's debut novel Let the Right One In was released. Even if the publisher loved the book, none could've expected how much attention it and John Ajvide Lindqvist would come to receive. 20 years later, Let the Right One In is a mod...

Re: 6-Hour LTROI Class/Workshop

I'd like to add mention of The Gemsbok's recent review (shared by intrige a while back) and their interesting analysis of the movie's use of color.

Re: Vampirism and Medication

It's not mentioned in regards to Tommy's glue sniffing, but it is mentioned that Eli becomes slightly intoxicated by the alcohol in Lacke's blood (Part Five, "Monday 9 November"). It's possible that Eli was also affected in Tommy's case but that it happened and wore off off-page (there's a gap of se...

Re: Handling the undead spoiler review, by me :)

Like Flora, who met death as a kid, is now the big sister of the kid with the hamster, and it is a bunny now, not a hamster. In the book, it's Eva who almost drowned and met Death as a child (which inspired one of the characters in the children's book series she wrote). Flora has psychic abilities ...

Re: My Thoughts on Harbor

It would make a fantastic movie if reworked for cinema. I would personally prefer a miniseries, to give enough time to capture the different time perspectives and the way current-day events intertwine with those of earlier generations. Maybe something around the same length and mood as last year's ...

Re: First post-premiere thoughts

Not sure. I imagine one might get more out of the movie if one goes in fresh, for the reasons mentioned in the OP. Dunno how long it'll take before it's available in the US, though (it won't release in Swedish theaters until March 15). If you do read the book, make sure to also read the sequel short...

First post-premiere thoughts

Thea Hvistendahl's Handling the Undead had its European premiere today (January 26) at the Gothenburg Film Festival, and I splurged on a digital ticket so I wouldn't have to wait to watch it. I still need to digest the experience and gather my thoughts some more, but wanted to put down some first im...

Re: The development of LTROI (from Fail Again, Fail Better)

I know this was several years ago - but, out of morbid curiosity, did he expand at all on what he had written for the scene where Hakan attempted to rape Eli? Like that scene was already really hard to read as is. Not much more than what I wrote in the OP. Here's the full thing if you're curious (m...
