Re: Let the Right One In episode-by-episode discussion

Renamed the thread because I didn't feel it was worthwhile to keep making new threads for each episode. So, E05 then. It kind of annoyed me. Annoyance #1: I audibly groaned at Naomi saying "What happened in those sewers was just the beginning". I don't think they could've made that line more cliché ...

Re: New JAL novel: Summer 1985

He described it in the live Q&A he did in May this year . 00:44:20 To what extent does nostalgia play a role in your novel writing? Very good question. Quite a lot, I think. [...] The novel I'm writing now, called The Summer of 1985 , is... I mean, listen to the title. But maybe it'll be called The ...

Re: John Ajvide Lindqvist tricked into selling the television rights for one kroner

- It turned out that I, through this, had sold off all the rights. So I haven't had anything to do with it [the show], which feels a little sour, it's my name, it's my book. The only part I've seen is the trailer, it includes some things from the book and then the rest is generic vampire nonsense. ...

Re: Let the Right One In - E03&4 discussion

Ellie watching over Isaiah through his window in E03. I also really liked that. It's an interesting combination where it's a shot that feels heartwarming in the context of everything that happened earlier in the episode, but looks unsettling when looked at in isolation. At least for me. Agreed, the...

Re: Let the Right One In - E03&4 discussion

I think I'm kind of the opposite with regards to the Matthew, Peter and Claire story line. I actually don't mind that story line. It may sound crazy but I see a lot of JAL in that story line in terms of what it takes to love someone that is the other. That story line doesn't bother me anywhere near...

Let the Right One In episode-by-episode discussion

If no one else is going to post this, I guess I'll do it. Some rambly thoughts on how the show is going so far, presented in no particular order: I'm still enjoying my time with this and am curious to see where things are headed, even though Isaiah and Ellie's scenes are about the only ones that rea...

Interview with Demián Bichir

From Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter , 2022-10-21. https://www.dn.se/kultur/demian-bichir-min-dotter-paminner-ibland-om-en-vampyr/ The most notable takeaway from this, I think, is that Bichir wants to do "many more seasons" of the show if given the chance. My translation of the full article: - Swed...

Re: Let the Right One In - E01 (Review - Potential Spoilers)

Got caught up on the first episode. Some mixed feelings about it, but mostly cautiously optimistic. I'm on board with the main Mark/Ellie/Isaiah plot. I like the performances, and I think it's an interesting way to reimagine the core LTROI relationships and place them in a different context, while s...

Re: Let the Right One In - E01 (Review - Potential Spoilers)

I found it kind of amusing that they made Isaiah (or Oskar) have a fascination with magic. That HAS to be a direct nod to John Ajvide Lindqvist so kudos to the writers on that one little tidbit. That's also in the novel, somewhat. He put the cube on the edge of the sandbox half a meter away from hi...

Re: New trailer

Ah. Hm. Well.
They're not making it easy for me to stay optimistic about giving this show a chance. This looks bad.
