Personally, I can't picture anyone but Lina Leandersson playing the role of Eli. To me she IS Eli. But to answer your question, absolutely a trans actor could play the role if she had the acting chops to pull it off.

I agree with everything you said there. I think its my inherent Americanized need to see things that leads me to wonder how pissed she was. But again, its irrelevant. I wouldn't change a thing. LTROI is as close to a perfect story as I've ever seen. So happy to be among the infected.
