This season has been effectively about vampires (not traditional ones but nonetheless people who drink blood). In the episode one of the characters gives birth to a baby boy and the name given to the baby is none other than... Eli.
If the plot was anything else I wouldn't assume anything but the name Eli in a story about vampires seems pretty deliberate imo.
