Du Maurier Fans, Take Notice

There are new adaptations of Daphne du Maurier's novels Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel in the works. For those who haven't heard of the books, Rebecca is about a woman who moves into her new husband's mansion in 1930's England, but becomes jealous of his late wife. In My Cousin Rachel, a man in the 19th century sets out to prove that his cousin's widow murdered her husband, then starts falling in love with her.

I haven't found recent updates on this (what I've seen is from 2013 at the latest) so if anyone has information, I would appreciate it. It's supposed to follow the novel more closely than the earlier version, from what I've read. I know some people are going to throw a fit over a remake of the classic movie, but the earlier version screwed up a very important plot point, which makes me want to bang my head on a wall the more I think about the book: that Maxim shot Rebecca purposely, instead of killed her accidentally as he did in the Hitchcock movie. The novel deserves a good film that gets this right. (Yes, I've heard it was because of Production Code rules at the time, but that doesn't make it better.)

Some set photos from MCR's leading man, Sam Claflin: http://sam-claflin.com/category/movie-p ... in-rachel/ It's been a while since I saw the original movie with Olivia de Havilland, but I didn't like it. I can't remember exactly why except that it cut out one of my favorite scenes.

Thoughts? Optimism? Pessimism? Torches and pitchforks?
