Tormented

Postby moonvibe34 » Thu Jan 07, 2010 7:30 pm

LTROI has reawakened a passion within me to attempt to formulate my thoughts and emotions into something conveyable, something i loosely refer to as poetry. since i first saw the film i've wanted to write something concerning the characters but i couldn't formulate anything specific. all of my "poems" have always been born of my own experiences and not my creativity, which is lacking, but when i came across Tormented, which i wrote about eight years ago, it reminded me so much of our beloved Oskar and Eli.

It's beautiful. I would like to understand more about what you are attempting to express with respect to your feelings about the characters in LTROI by this poem.

for me Tormented represents a burning desire for a soul mate which i feel Oskar and Eli can certainly relate to. i feel as though both of them have longed for someone to accept and love them completely and unconditionaly, before they met each other ofcourse. especially Eli who has lived so long and probably wonders if such a person will ever exist. i wonder how many times Oskar and Eli found their soul mates only to wake up and realize it was just a dream. lines 2 and 5 reminded me of their relationship after they found each other. i hope that helps a little.

Moonvibe, at one of the very lowest points in my life, I had a dream visitation from a female spirit, who first appeared to me with a horse at one hand and an ox at the other. She required that we sit down facing each other to meditate; then she leaned over and pulled me to her breast. I, like a fool, was going "No, no, that's not what it's supposed to be about..." and then I woke up, and could have kicked myself. Nonetheless my soul was greatly comforted, and still believes this was a kindly spirit come to tell me that, wicked though I was, I was still deserving of love and life.

But not all nocturnal visitors are so blessed. There is apparently a species of elemental known as Succubi, who may appear to the sleeper in either male or female form, who are attracted by extreme loneliness and longing; of these I feel one should beware, their intent is predatory.

I hope you'll publish more of your poetry.

that is a very interesting experience you had. indeed we are all deserving of love and life. those most fortunate find both at the same time. thanks for reading my poem and i certainly fear the Succubi.

To fear them too much is to attract them even more; perhaps compassion is the answer,as it is to so much else.

May the one infinite creator awaken compassion in the hearts of all beings

Which obviously includes 12-year-old vampires.
