Jiang Shi's New Artwork

Postby a_contemplative_life » Fri Jun 25, 2010 3:20 am

I thought I'd start a thread for comment on Jiang Shi's new drawings in the Fan Fiction area.

All 3 of the pictures were really cool. I personally liked the sketch of Oskar. It's very...Oskar-ish!

If they ever wanted to make an illustrated, abridged-type book for the story, I could see some of this artwork being used. Very nice, esp. the Abby one.

Thank ya kindly! :)
I had a hard time initially with Oscar haha, his features are so delicate and light and I'm very prone to lots of dark tones. I really love doodling LtROI in different styles, it's wonderful imagery. I think it has a potential to be a very wonderful European animation if it was ever pursued haha. The Abby picture was kind of experimental but I really like it too, playing with lots of orange-reds instead of the grey-blues.

I like these very much! Jiang_Shi, do you do art work professionally? It certainly looks like you do.

I like your versions of Eli. She does have very large eyes that change color.

Yes, all three pics are very cool and unique. The one titled "Animation Teaser" is my fav. Simply awesome!
Thanks Jiang Shi. :D

Thanks! haha um I've done freelance graphic design but other than that nothing really professional. Mostly just a hobby that I really enjoy. I really liked that vampire eyes were slightly bigger and had that blue tint, I thought that was so neat. Eli is extremely fun to draw, haha.

Thank ya, I'm glad to share! The imagery fits very nicely into an animation style I think.

Where are you my angel now?
Don't you see me crying?
And I know that you can't do it all,
But you can't say I'm not trying.

Nice photos! The Little Red Riding Abby is my favorite!
About the animated Eli, forgive my ignorance, but does it require Photoshop or some other special software to make it run?

Oh no, it's not animated haha, I wish I could do animation. It's just styled after cel painting. I know there's a way to use photoshop to create animated gifs, but I haven't tried that yet.

Great mood in the new one, nailed it really, but I find your Oskar much more accessible than your Eli, for some reason.

I suppose I want Eli more beautiful, it's almost like you're deliberately de-romanticising or something.

I think it's kinda sweet. I like her dreamy eyes and the way they're holding one another.
