I was actually envisioning fresh blood deliveries by a blood-filled delivery person. But you've brought up an interesting point. Would a more 'formal' vampire be able to enter a home with a written invitation only? (In this case, an Abby-filled trunk with the victim's order-fulfilling address on it?) I don't believe JAL ever addressed that possibility, except, perhaps, by inference. "...you have to say I can come in..."
In a formal contract, what is 'said' is in writing. :think:

That would work, maybe, but would also reveal the whereabouts of the vampire...

I would think that the invitation is an example of the old idea that there is magic in spoken words.
Thus, I believe the invitation has to be spoken.
