Little Star Translation Project?

Little Star Translation Project?
Hi, first post here, even if I have been stalking this place since last year.
Recently I started translating Little Star to practice my English skills, it's still very much in the beginning stages though. But since I have a native english-speaking friend who offered to look over my translations, I wondered if it would be okay to post them here? So far I just have the prologue and first chapter done.
Little Star is a far too good book to just be available in Swedish, and since this is easily JAL's best book since LTROI I wonder if there would be any interest in it for you who do not know Swedish? If an official translation of the book would be announced, I'd take them down immediately.

Re: Little Star Translation Project?
Hey there Sereht, welcome to the board!
Myself, I don't think that would be a good idea as the Master himself, Mr. Lindqvist, as well as his editor "editrice" are both members here and they would probably object.
Plus, that would make all the hard work I'm doing (Wolfchild as well I believe) to learn the Swedish language, sort of unnecessary.

Judging by the wide praise that Lilla Stjärna has been receiving, it seems very likely that it will eventually be published in English. That being the case, having an unauthorized English translation floating around on the internet would damage JAL's bargaining position with an English publisher and would also likely hurt sales of any English translation. It would be taking money out of his pocket; denying him compensation for his work.
Personally, I would rather see Pappersväggar become the object of an illicit English translation project, since I despair of it ever being published in English.
However I can understand that pursuing such a project requires personal inspiration, and it is Lilla Stjärna that has inspired you. Just don't be surprised if you hear from Ordfront in some fashion asserting their copyright.
And welcome Sereht!

...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Is there any of the stories in Paper Walls you'd rather see? Because I wouldn't mind doing one of them.
Re: Little Star Translation Project?
There is already an unofficial translation of The Final Handling floating around. A lot of people praise Gräns.

welcome, sereht!
There'd better be an English translation of Little Star eventually, or all hell will break loose.

A late welcome from me! I would agree going for Gräns. A fantastic short story.
In an interview, JAL said it was first with Gräns he really understood he could write.

It will get published this year.
Once Grandmother gave her a little hood made of red velvet. Because it suited her so well, and she wanted to wear it all the time, she came to be known as Little Red Riding Hood
