Ordfront has published exerptions from several reviews of Little Star. I find this page particularly interesting because it draws parallels to JAL's earlier works, discussing developments in his writing.

AHHH! Reading this just makes me want to read the book THAT much more. Why do I have to wait so long for it to be translated to English? :(.

Yesterday my regional newspaper (Adresseavisen) had an excellent review of Little Star. The tagline:
The author is exceptional good in his ability to integrate popular cultural phenomena deeply rooted in the swedish people.

Here's a really good review(dated Jan.23, 2013) from a person that really gets the novel.

The plot of Little Star is at once both beautifully simple and incredibly complex. The story is a simple tale of an abandoned child and the family who finds her but beneath that surface is an incredibly weird tale which I can’t outline here without spoiling, so I won’t. Suffice to say that singing babies, serial killing children and Abba feature heavily in what may well be the most bizarre, yet compelling tale I have read in a long time....

They do really seem to get the essence of Little Star. Nice and concise review. :)
