I always buy an "extra" copy of a DVD or Music CD that I really, really like. And I leave them unopened as well.
I just bought LTROI for this collection. But one with the good Theatrical Subs. Guess I'd be pretty upset if I actually went to use one of these discs and found it didn't play. :o

Yeah I have the one with the correct subtitles but I always wanted the DVD with the hologram on it, I was looking for it and found it at Barnes & Nobles one day and I didn't have the cash on me (grrr) I came a week later and it was gone.
She's beautiful as well as interesting, isn't she?

Marc, if that ever happens again, take the item to the counter; ask them to put your name on it and hold it for you. Most store will do that. Sorry you lost out. :(

I guess I lucked out by being late to the party, because my copy has both sets of subtitles. Or because of the region I live in maybe, because of the French dub and subtitles being on board as well.

I'm not one to "collect" things though, so I am fine with just having the one copy myself. The only time I would pick up another copy is if it offered something new and tangible, like additional commentary, more deleted scenes, or... dare I brave the notion... outtakes.

Then you will probably want to get the UK DVD (or BD). It has a very cool audio commentary track with Tomas Alfredson and John. There is a transcript of it on my web page.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Yeah, I gave it a read while I was watching last week. ;)

If I still had my PAL Playstation 2 from back in the day, I would be sorely tempted to see if I could pick up a copy.
