Oh yeah, I forgot about the antisocial kitty at the beginning of that scene. A nice touch indeed, IMO. Thanks gattoparde.gattoparde59 wrote: Don't forget that kitty-cat.

Its all the little quiet moments that I love the most about the film
Sure the big set pieces are fun (the cat attack, Virginia Burning, The pool scene and so on). Those are all memorable and enjoyable...but it was all the little moments that truly left a lasting impression on me
Some of those moments include
When Hakan is berating Eli for Killing Jocke and for having to clean up the mess. The film focuses on Oskar with his ear pressed against the wall, but the camera focuses on his hand. His hand is very tenderly stroking the wall. Combined with Johan's tender music. In the book, the inner monologe has Oskar expressing his concerns for Eli and that he would like to take care of her and comfort her in that moment of Hakan berating her. I felt that little moment of OsKARE stroking his hand against the wall captured that moment from the book really nicely without ever having to say a single word.
Another one I always refer to is just after Hakan douses his face with Acid. We cut to Eli sitting in the very lonesome deserted apartment. She is sitting near the wall, and she goes to put her hand to tap a message to Oskar through the wall only to slowly withdraw her hand. You can see in that small moment the complete yearning to be with him (Oskar) but at the same time that she does keep her word and somewhat loyalty to Hakan's request. Once again that little moment spoke volumes about the character of Eli without ever having to utter a single line of dialog.
The Bedroom scene is also an absolute favorite.
And the Kiss with Eli's theme playing in the background is another favorite that always warms my heart (unlike the dreadful LMI kiss)
So yeah I think its all the little moments that get me about that film.

My most favorite part is where Eli/Abby tells Oskar/Owen to fight back the bullies. That's one of my favorite scenes.
The other is when Oskar/Owen hits the bully with that stick.
The candy store in both films.
The cats attacking Virginia in LTROI.
When Virginia has the nurse open the window in LTROI.
When Lacke cuts the tape at the bathroom and Oskar yells "NO!" with the knife in his hand and the scene cuts to Eli waking up and attacking Lacke.

My favorite scene is on the jungle gym the night after Eli solved the Rubik's Cube. There's Eli sitting high up on the gym waiting for Oskar to arrive. A big smile comes to her face when he does. Then she pulls the big "scoot over" move to get nice and close to him and asks, "Do I smell better now?" The best part is when Eli takes the cube to show Oskar how she solved it. Hell, he's not even watching the cube, but instead is checking Eli out - real nice and close up! That is when I could see in his eyes that he is in love. Totally and completely in love.

That little glance is very heart-warming. He's like, 'who is this girl'?OUTSIDER wrote:The best part is when Eli takes the cube to show Oskar how she solved it. P.S. - the whole film is one long favorite scene. That's why it's so great!

This is my favorite scene also. I, especially, love that part just after Eli throws up.. Oskar turns the corner and walks towards her.. She turns out and faces him. Her face looking down.. And she says.. sorry.moonvibe34 wrote:My favorite scene has been the Candy Store scene since the first time I witnessed it.
Right at that moment, she looks so small, fragile, and delicate. I just wanted to hug her myself. And than of course...
Darn it! When is the LTROI extended version coming out?moonvibe34 wrote:Then we have the most heart breaking/warming hug in the history of hugdom.
Re: favorite scenes in LTROI
I would say all the scenes between Kare and Lina but if i have to choose one, i think it is when Eli tells Oskar she has to go away. All this sequence is so sad and tragic but at the same time beautiful. In particular, after the kiss, we see for a brief moment Eli, her mouth covered with blood, we realize the horror of the situation and the horror of her situation.
