Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game... of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over... or has it just begun?

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize, and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension

I... will be watching over you
I... am gonna help you see it through
I... will protect you in the night
I... am smiling next to you, in Silent Lucidity

[Spoken]
Visualize your dream
Record it in the present tense
Put it into a permanent form
If you persist in your efforts
You can achieve dream control
Dream control
How's that then, better?
Dream control
Dream control...
Hug me

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but...

I... will be watching over you
I... am gonna help to see it through
I... will protect you in the night
I... am smiling next to you....

Queensryche, "Silent Lucidity", "Empire" ©1990
"Can we die?" "Of course we can." Eli put his hand on his heart, felt the slow beats. Maybe it was because he was a child. Maybe that was why he hadn't put an end to it. The pangs of conscience were weaker than his will to live.

This song always make me think about Let the right one in. I imagine this is Eli's words. I know the lyrics might not make complete sence to what she would say, but I can't help thinking like that.
Laleh - Your town
I imagine that the town is Blackeberg, and that Eli somhow is seeing it from above.

I was looking down from a plane
that flew over your town
Sun was resting yellow red
Over your town
The cars were driving around
One of those cars
Could be yours

I looked down from a plane
And it flew over our town
Maybe you see
Maybe you hear my plane
Maybe you hear the children play
And scream to the airplanes when I fly
Over our home

Came spring
But came summer I wouldn't know
I'm hoping I'm jumping
In secret I go
High over our home

Came spring
But came summer I wouldn't know
I'm hoping I'm jumping
Right overboard
High over our home

I looked down from a plane and I saw
I saw our town
The houses the roads and the rivers and our playground
Look up, look here
Maybe you're looking when the children point
when I fly over our home

Came spring
But came summer I wouldn't know
I'm hoping I'm jumping
In secret I go
High over our home

Came spring
But came summer I wouldn't know
I'm hoping I'm jumping
Right overboard
High over our home
Over our home

"Devil Inside" from INXS. I don't really know why.

My Love - Sia
Not that there's anything wrong with this video (it's actually rather good just using still photos) but I really wish that someone would make a video for this song using images frpm LTROI.

Interestingly enough the singer has the same hairstyle as Oskar's according to wiki

Uncanny!

I won't be too original I'm afraid -- Flash in the Night is THE song that brings me back to LTROI every time. Much like the film it has a certain claustrophobic, dreamlike quality that's hard to pinpoint. It fits the atmosphere perfectly.
In a gloomy empty land, with dreary hills ahead.

I've written this elsewhere before but Mew's songs really remind me of LTROI. It really didn't supprise me to learn a few months ago that the lead singers favorite film in 2009 was of course LTROI, there music and the film really seem to share/come from a similar emotional standpoint. The lyrics in this song in particular - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zKAGoMrftA

White lips kissed

Wake me up
Only nightmares take me in
Through these walls the winter bites
A draft from all sides
Why did you not include me on your list?
Let me in through the ceiling
White lips kissed

Our love is a fickle love
Keeps itself locked in a suitcase
To be ready to go
Always

I won't cry when the silver lining shows
But you're right
You understand
You ride with both hands
Worrying is the breathing that you need
So there won't be far to fall
You mustn't climb tall

Things that are supposed to mean lots
Leave you cold
And with a malady of the soul

Our love is a tricky love
Bet you know this
Bet you noticed
Bet you know, which is why

I should know better than anyone ever could
Soon as I let go
Everything falls apart

I won't cry when the silver lining shows
But you're right
You understand
You ride with both hands
Worrying is the breathing that you need
So there won't be far to fall
You mustn't climb tall

Wake me up
Only nightmares take me in
Through these walls the winter bites
A draft from all sides
Of course you can
There are diamonds in demand
It's a shame and as you know
The stain will not go

Great band, i'd recommend them to everyone.

Sonata Arctica -Shamandalie
seems to fit a sad ending for Oskar and Eli
"When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it."

Not an immediately obvious choice by any means, but the more I listened to the lyrics, the more I found in them;

Oskar's question to Eli;

Zombie Håkan from the squirrel's perspective;

Bullying;

Vengeance;

The bullies' phone call

For the purists:
This is not love
This is not even worth a point of view
In Echo Park, I
Pause for effect and whisper 'Who are you?'

They crawl out of their holes for me
And I die: You die
Hear them laugh, watch them turn on me
And I die: You die
See my scars, they call me such things
Tear me, tear me, tear me

Now I have your names
Screaming 'you will suffer' and 'you're all too late'
Now I feel young

Does everything stop when the old dame fails?

They crawl out of their holes for me
And I die: You die
Hear them laugh, watch them turn on me
And I die: You die
See my scars, they call me such things
Tear me, tear me, tear me

But I'm still frightened by the telephone
'Lucky is he who has such a friend...'

Mar de Grises - "Kilómetros de Nada"
Algo que me hace distinto por dentro
Ante un ocaso de fuego eterno
Puedo contarte secretos perpetuos
Sombras de noche me alejo muy dentro

Y en una humilde risa te envidio
Y en mis palabras secas (dominio)
Y sobre una luna te dejé
Y con demencia supe perder
Y en una fría calma perdido
Perdido en lo olvido
Olvido en un otoño sin piel
El que me hizo caer

Quiero esconderme desierto por dentro
Cubro mis manos, el viento eterno
Abro mis ojos y miro el silencio
Invierno en mi vida, amarga mentir
Att fly är livet, att dröja döden.

Do not ask why; ask why not.
