I coulda sworn this song was coming out.
"Can we die?" "Of course we can." Eli put his hand on his heart, felt the slow beats. Maybe it was because he was a child. Maybe that was why he hadn't put an end to it. The pangs of conscience were weaker than his will to live.

Thanks for the article Wolfie. The sound design is one thing I always recommend to people when I introduce them the DVD.
Låt den rätte komma in in both its printed and celluloid form is a slow acting poison. You will be poisoned white. White from arsenic and innocence.

I'm new to the board.

Does anyone know the name of the song that Oskar is listening to as Eli walks from (I'm assuming) the shower to the bedroom to get dressed? He is sort of tapping his leg and bopping around and she does the same and smiles.

The name of the song is "Kvar i min bil"

This is what wikipedia says about that particular song:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the_Right_One_In_%28film%29 wrote:The song "Kvar i min bil", written and performed by Per Gessle, resonates repeatedly through the film. Originally an outtake from Gessle's solo album En Händig Man, the song was specially provided for the film, to resemble the sound of popular 1980s pop group Gyllene Tider.[32] Gessle has described the song as a "bluesy tune with a nice guitar hook”.

Hello InfectedbyChoice and welcome to the board.

I always recommend reading the "tale told by hands" if you have not already done so:

This is a great article and a good jumping off point. It opened up a whole new vista on the movie for me.

Also check out the Fan Fiction. It ranges from good to mind blowingly great.

Have fun!

Hi InfectedbyChoice and Welcome!

In case anyone wants to know the song that was playing at the pool scene it was "Flash In The Night" by Secret Service.
"Can we die?" "Of course we can." Eli put his hand on his heart, felt the slow beats. Maybe it was because he was a child. Maybe that was why he hadn't put an end to it. The pangs of conscience were weaker than his will to live.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will indeed read the recommended posts. :)

I first saw the movie about a month ago and I've already watched it three times. I finally bought the book because there were gaps in the film that I could not fill in and wanted to know more about it. The book and movie are both superb in their own way.

Lina Leanderson is amazing and I'm eager to see if she will do more acting.

Another thought about something that fits in with Wolfie original theme of "Oskar and the world," if I can call it that. This is the use of sound as a punctuation point. At the end of the sequence where we see Oskar mourning after Eli has departed in the taxi cab, we see Oskar with his eyes closed at the window. Oskar is lost in his own sorrow when the phone rings. The world intrudes on Oskar again and this time it is Martin who is luring Oskar out for Jimmy and Conny.

Oskar has been caught at a vulnerable moment: his real friend has left him and now Martin, the false friend, is on the phone.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

On the topic of audio, wouldn't it be great if EFTI re-released a DVD that had Lina's voice, rather than the Elif Ceylan over-dub. At least as an audio option. Sound designer Per Sundström said that Elif's voice made the character more threatening. But If they can dub the thing with ridiculous American accents, I don't think I'm asking too much.
