I have sometimes wondered, when seeing these silly covers, what a cover personally designed or managed by JAL would look like.

I imagine he would be very happy with the original Swedish cover design...

I think its a very strange cover for the story of LTROI. I never knew what house this should be but after thinking of it for a while maybe this picture of the hous stands also for lonlyness and isolation.

I think it represents Sweden. Red houses are common here, and that would be a well-known fact in Germany, I suppose.

The cover of the French version is great. It's similar to the Let Me In movie cover with Chloe lying in a very similar way, only the girl on the French cover looks more like Eli. If I had to rate my 3 favorite covers, it would probably be something like this:

1. Original Swedish cover (obviously )

2. French cover

3. Cover with Lina's face

It's hard to decide. Maybe 2 and 3 could be switched. I just like the idea of the book cover having a different picture from that of the movie, but these are still my 3 FAVORITE covers.

"Creature of the Night" and especially "Morse" are also very interesting and fitting names
Its really interesting that the title is changed in some countrys and in some its the same

LTROI did not do well in France, and I think part of the problem was the title. In French, "Morse" means "Walrus." Would you go to see a vampire film called "Walrus"? I think it was a failure on the part of the French distributor to not give a little more thought to the title.

What?!... oh no ya... thats not fitting at ALL
I did not know that it means "Walrus" otherwise it would be really a nice title IF you hat to change it at all.

I am still wondering how they came up with the name "so finster die nacht" in germany and austria. I tried to do a little research on this but i found nothing usefull. A German newspaper called LTROI "Die unergründliche Poesie des Blutes" that means "the fathomless poetry of blood" (if my translation is corect ) thats also really beautiful i think. But the real name would be of course the best

It is odd the liberties that translators take, and not just with titles. You folks who are newly Infected probably wouldn't know this, but when LTROI first came out on DVD, Magnolia Pictures changed the subtitles from the theatrical version of the film. These "Magnolia subtitles" left out a lot of crucial dialogue, especially between Eli and Oskar. There was such an uproar from fans of the film that Magnolia ended up adding the theatrical subtitles along with the inferior subtitles. All newer DVDs and Blurays of LTROI have both.

Because I am coming from Austria where also german is spoken I also have got the version with the title "So finster die Nacht" and the red swedish house on it. But because I don´t think it fits for the meaning of the story I just call it "Låt den rätte komma in" if I talk about it. Then most People ask what this title is about and I have to explain them.
