Had a fun idea today: match up song lyrics to your favorite scenes of LTROI.
My inspiration: Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet"; where it fits: the end of the pool scene...
I met a devil woman, she took my heart away
She said I had it comin' to me, but I wanted it that way
I think that any love is good lovin'
And so I took what I could get, mmm
Oooh, oooh, she looked at me with big brown eyes
And said
You ain't seen nothin' yet
B-B-B-Baby, you just ain't seen nothin' yet
Here's something that you never gonna forget
B-B-B-Baby, you just ain't seen nothin' yet

Got any?

Depeche Mode's Never Let Me Down Again
On the train ride at the end of the movie, I see this as Eli's view of Oskar. He (Eli) came back to get Oskar (and ended up rescuing him) and now they're on the train heading away to whatever lies ahead
I'm taking a ride with my best friend
I hope he never lets me down again
He knows where he's taking me
Taking me to where I want to be
I'm taking a ride with my best friend.
and then looking forward from that moment, the song continues
We're flying high
We're watching the world pass us by
Never want to come down
Never want to put my feet back down on the ground

In the bedroom scene after Oskar goes to sleep, play The Smiths, "Please, please let me get what I want."
Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had
Can make a good man bad
So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

For the Jungle Gym scene, accompanied by a little vampire's growling tummy, All That Remains'
This Calling:
I secretly crave, crave that scent again
Still feel it pressing on me now
Now with the onset, my flesh is weakening
I steel my nerves for temptations at hand again
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

When Eli comes in through window = Melissa Etheridge - Come To My Window
Keeping My Eyes Open
I Cannot Afford To Sleep
Nothing Fills The Blackness
I Need You In My Blood
I Am Forsaking All The Rest
I Don't Care What They Think
Don't Care What They Say
What Do They Know About This Love Anyway
Come To My Window
Crawl Inside, Wait By The Light Of The Moon
Come To My Window, I'll Be Home Soon
I'll Be Home, I'll Be Home, I'll Be Home

While Eli sleeps in the tub in the darkened bathroom: 'The Sun' from Soap and Skin
"I see the sun
She dawns
She burns
She grows
She feeds
She spews
She dies
Above us
And builts the shadows
Which faces myself
She drives me
Into the black hole"...
And when Lacke comes in:
..."The doors opens there
The skin opens there"

I'm thinking about the scene where she has to leave right after chowing on Lacke... I think a song I just found today on youtube fits it nicely.
Team Sleep- Death by Plane.
Went away to you
Ten million hours gone
You could turn
Soon
There in the air
Where I can't move
I say
Just say to you
Goodbye my love
Goodbye...
slog tillbaka. hårt.

Serene and silent sky
Rays of moon are dancing with the tide
A perfect sight, a world divine
And I...
The loneliest child alive
Always waiting, searching for my rhyme
I'm still alone in the dead of night
Silent I lie with a smile on my face
Appearance deceives and the silence betrays
As I wait for the time
My dream comes alive
Always out of sight
But never out of mind
And under waning moon
Still I long for you
Alone against the light
Solitude am I
-My Selene Oskar after tapping sweet dreams to Eli
"When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it."

This one has been in the back of my mind for more than a year--"Magic" from the Xanadu soundtrack (yes, I know, I
am showing my age). This would apply at the train station from LTODD, and Eli is singing to Oskar...
Come take my hand
You should know me
I've always been in your mind
You know that I'll be kind
I'll be guiding you
Building your dream
Has to start now
There's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake
I'll be guiding you
You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you
And yeah, in my teens I
did think Olivia Newton-John was cute.

And I still think she has a beautiful voice.
