I watched LTROI for the first time on 19th April 2009 at my local multiplex. I'd heard a lot of postive comments about it beforehand but didn't know the story, needless to say I was very impressed and thoughtful afterwards. When I got home I checked IMDB read the FAQ (putting myself straight on a few things) and avidly started reading the discussions there before opening an account and eventually posting myself.

I'd hoped to persuade a friend to see it with me 10 days later, we'd arranged to go shopping and see a film afterwards. Unfortunately she refused to see a film with subtitles (she's not a fast reader) which actually resulted in me crying because of the disappointment. We ended up seeing 'The Uninvited' which I hated and will never watch again. it's not that bad really, it just brings back bad memories for me

I did get to see it twice more at the cinema before it came off general release here. Then there was the long wait before the dvd was released here, the OST cd helped me get through this as did YouTube...

I was pleased with the directors commentary and Little White Lies mini magazine that came with the dvd that I bought. But like Theinfected914 I've never been one to watch a film over and over again, so I'd guess that I've watched it maybe once a month since then.

Oaw, I'm sorry to read that. Last June I had the chance to see the film before its premier release here in Hungary (it was a limited screening, you could win tickets in a game hosted by a blog site and the distributors), but didn't wanted to go alone into the capital city. The girl I wanted to bring with me came to the conclusion that I probably just want to lay her, so said no in the last minute, and the friend I invited after this couldn't make it because of his school exams, so I didn't go after all.

I was kinda down for a week or so. But more like pissed off, not depressed - after all, I was a fan of this film before less than 1% of people around here knew about it. And you could get a free poster at the screening, and also win the DVD if you wrote a critic/review about the event in your blog. It's so unfair. :|
And we danced, on the brink of an unknown future, to an echo from a vanished past.

I had a chance to see the film in a theater back in February 2009. Instead I elected to wait for certain family members to show up for dinner and I wound up watching the "Sarah Connor Chronicles" on tv. It turns out these people were really late. They are always really late! I could have easily have seen the film in the theater. Doh! DOH! :(

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

I enjoy re-watching specific parts of the film, mainly the scenes with close interaction between Lina and Kare. I like to turn up the volume and study the scenes carefully for little nuances that might have previously escaped me.

For example, after someone posted the floor plan of their apartments, it was fun to go back and watch the scenes that took place there. It really helped me understand how everything was laid out.

Or sometimes, when someone here makes an insightful observation that I had not considered, it is fun to go back and watch the part at issue to understand that person's point.

Watching Eli and Oskar together has also helped me to write fan fiction, which is presently where most of my interest lies. It is fun to write something new while trying to remain faithful to the characters as portrayed in the film, or as described in JAL's novel.

I'm not sure how faithful my Eli is, but s/he's very assertive, I can tell you that. Oskar is much easier to handle, I can reference my own brutalised 12-year old.

Hah, good turn out for this thread! :P Glad to see a variety of responses from everyone.

OUTSIDER, dun worry mang. Your viewings count! I'm more or less saying that it's been a year for me. So, even if you're a "noob" your year starts then! lawls

Aurora, sorry to hear you couldn't watch it at the time with your friend.

Microwave, damn that sucks. Really sucks when people say no at the last minute. DX I would have been pissed too.

gattoparde59, late people always ruining stuff, mang. :x

Speaking of fanfiction, I'm writing a poem from both Oskar and Eli's pov about their home. Like Oskar returns to Blackeburg maybe 20 years later and sees the jungle gym and such still there. Gonna be quite the challenge with Eli's home since I can't recall where in the book it's described. .... Something like that. heh... It's due Wednesday. :x

Looking at these replies, it looks like I've fallen of the wagon - I've not watched the film since last summer, and that was with the UK Director / Writer commentary. :(

I haven't seen it in about 4 or 5 months. Last time I watched was when I got the UK Blu Ray and I watched it with the English Commentary between JAL and Tomas...But I have the film near memorised scene for scene :)

I actually didn't want to run the risk of pulling another Reservoir Dogs or Chasing Amy with it. When I first saw RD and Chasing Amy, I think I watched the hell out of those films, to the point that I did start to get a little tired of them. So I had to disconnect from them in fear of overkilling them. Same thing with LTROI...I freaking love the movie and its climbed so quickly to the top of my favorite films list...but yeah I haven't watched it in close to 4 months. I plan to re watch it soon though...I have some more people I want to introduce it too so I'm sure I will re watch it very soon :)

The count for me is about 10 times, with 4 of them being at the actual cinema when it had its extremely limited release here in Sydney Australia. Hell the cinema management of said independent cinema got to know me so well due to my constant visits that they gave me one of their promotional posters when the film was done with its run, which I have framed next to my signed Oldboy poster in my gaming room :)
