Re: Is Lina........?
I was referring to what she's said in her interviews, but yes. Just very normal for her age, cliché as it may sound. Very amicable though.God of Vampires wrote:Glad to hear thatdecltype wrote: It may have been a case of "political correctness" for all I knowYou'll notice that she speaks very highly of the film whenever asked.
Assuming you speak of LTROI. You have actually met Lina? Im jealous
. How is she like?
Re: Is Lina........?
From the interviews with her I've read/heard, she sounds like a normal well-adjusted child of her particular age-group and it would be nice to think that fame won't spoil her in the long run. So far as the question about what religion she follows, if any, personally I couldn't really give a monkey's - she is what she is - a gifted actress and that's all that really matters in my opinion...decltype wrote:I was referring to what she's said in her interviews, but yes. Well, none of us said "hot" or anything in that vein

My apologies TAP - please put my insecurity down to living in a society where nowadays just paying a someone, especially a lady, a compliment will get you looks of distrust and the feeling that the person you have just complimented thinks you have an ulterior motive other than just being complimentary...TAPETRVE wrote:Well, none of us said "hot" or anything in that vein.
It's sad but true.

Re: Is Lina........?
Sad but true in my little cornpatch as well; I'm in a similar fix. Lina is indeed a very lovely young lady whose beauty is not markedly dissimilar to my own daughter's whose eyes I also haven't seen in some time (but expect to around Christmastime). Have you not seen me saying something about getting lost in those EYES?Harls wrote:My apologies TAP - please put my insecurity down to living in a society where nowadays just paying a someone, especially a lady, a compliment will get you looks of distrust and the feeling that the person you have just complimented thinks you have an ulterior motive other than just being complimentary...TAPETRVE wrote:Well, none of us said "hot" or anything in that vein.

Appreciation of physical beauty isn't a crime. From my perspective, appreciating her obvious physical beauty is no more "pervy" than appreciating a painting done by a master and hanging in the Louvre. I believe most people would feel similarly if they were being candid, and their similar appreciation wouldn't be "pervy". No amount of American mindless hysteria or baseless paranoia can change this elemental fact.
What's "pervy" is to say (or think) things like "I'd like to do... things... with her". This is where the signs go up saying ROAD CLOSED. I believe most people would agree with this sentiment, too... with fangs bared, torches lit and aloft and with pitchforks at the ready. No amount of American "due process of law" can change this simple fact, either.
But... just to gaze at? Even to wonder what kinds of movies she might like to watch or books to read, what kinds of foods she loves or hates...? To hope she's as healthy and as happy as she looks, that she has good family and friends? To wish her well? No, these things are not "pervy".
This is an international forum. We are not all Americans, and even most of us who are are intelligent and human enough not to automatically assume you're "pervy" for getting lost in those EYES.

Hmmm... I seem to have inadvertently ruffled some feathers with my admittedly poor choice of words in which was meant to be a light-hearted off-the-cuff comment. If I have offended anyone with the above-mentioned comments, I apologise unreservedly; this was not my intent.
As the thread had taken a jocular tone, I thought I'd play along and I thought by my use of the smiley that it would be taken in this context. I wasn't attempting to be insulting to members of this forum in general, nor Americans in particular:
I think the acid test will come when I visit them next Summer, but I'm saving that for another thread...
However, I'm digressing. Getting back on subject, at no time did it enter my head that the people on here were anything but honourable in their admiration of Lina, Kåre, the film, or its makers.
Anyway lesson learned and please rest assured I will try to be more considerate in my musings in future (although that won't stop me having fun where appropriate...)
Regards!

Whilst not an excuse, I do realise that the English sense of humour can be very subtle at times and in my numerous dealings with people worldwide, I have often found that they never know when I am joking or serious. Coincidentally, I find my Swedish friends really struggle to understand my sense of humour at times, but I'm slowly bringing them around to my way of thinking...This is an international forum. Bleah.
I'm not sure that anyone here is quicker to stomp on inappropriate comments regarding our favorite skådespelerska than I am, and I just chuckled when I read your comment.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.
