Been almost a year

Been almost a year
It's been almost a year now since I first watched LTROI. First watched it... sometime within the last week or so of May. I think probably the 26th? Anyway, I used to watch it almost daily or weekly. Seen it so many times now that I've lost count. Nowadays, I'll watch it every few weeks just so it doesn't get stale.
Question for everyone is: Does anyone still watch it a lot within a short amount of time (say under a month) or have you all spaced out the viewings like I have? :3

Re: Been almost a year
When I started watching the film back in August, I was a 2-3-times-a-dayer. Now I've got my infection down to being a 2-3-times-a-weeker.
Sounds like an AA meeting a bit.

Now, after 9 months, I watch it about once a week - once every second week.
But I've been busy reading JAL's two latest books (Människohamn/Harbour and Lilla Stjärna) and then I had to reduce a bit. But I notice it just won't fade....

I have never been one for watching the movie over and over. I may have watched it 10 times total.
I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.

I don't like watching the same movie over and over again. It's boring for me because I already know everything that's going to happen, you know? It takes the element of surprise away. I first saw it about 1 1/2 years ago and since then, I've watched it twice more. I don't think I'd ever have to watch it again because I know I won't ever forget it. Eli and Oskar are characters that will stay forever etched inside of you. In my movie viewing experience, which is not very extensive, not too many movies left me with the impression that this movie had done. First time around was painstaking for me because I blocked out so many childhood memories; things I haven't thought about in a long time. It was like "Bam", a ton of bricks fell on top of me. When I saw Kare on screen, it was like, that's me-- the kid with no friends. When I saw Lina on screen, it was like viewing the childhood girlfriend I always dreamt about, but never could achieve. Ha, I still haven't, but I'm older now and don't care for intimate relationships anymore. I'm just happy to be alive and not dead. Thankful that I still have a roof over my head because I've been seeing the same four homeless guys wandering around the streets for some years now, and it scares me.....

I know I'm just a rookie here and my vote may not count, but ......
I'm still watching at least part of the film on a daily basis. Can't help it, I'm hooked, and at this time can't get enough. And I believe that although you veterans may not always "watch" it, you are all still "seeing" it ..... through this board. Yes, you are all still getting your FIX .... from this board.

If we don't count last week, the last time I saw LTROI was back in August '09. Yup, long time ago. Actually the core of my infection was this forum alone for more than a half year. But I still knew the whole film by heart. And I had the "daily watch" era, of course.
And we danced, on the brink of an unknown future, to an echo from a vanished past.

Re: Been almost a year
I 've seen the film about 30 times since my first viewing in October. I never really had a routine for watching it, just popped it in when my dose of LTROI was needed.
My mind and heart were branded with the story after the first viewing anyway so multiple viewings haven't stenghtened my infection, just confirmed it.

Re: Been almost a year
I've backed off quite a bit; maybe once a month now. It isn't necessary to watch it a lot once you've virtually memorized it. I do think about it a lot, though. And like most everyone, I've got other things I like to do and have to do. One thing this movie encouraged me to do is check out more of the Swedish cinema; as well as other Scandinavian cinema. I mean, I've heard of Ingmar Bergman all my life, but only recently have I ever watched any of his movies. I've also watched Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish movies. Not all of it is good, but I would say that most of it is. Previously I had only watched mostly the French cinema, and American of course. So LTROI has encouraged me to check out an entirely differently world.
But not surprisingly, I can't get anyone else interested in subtitled movies.

I've stepped away from it for a little while. That will make it that much more refreshing when I watch it again, which will be soon.
