Who is singing?
that song about a little piggy falling in the ice?
I guess its supposed to be some of the little girls as none of Conny's gang lips are moving.
An unintentionally surreal moment for anyone else?

Re: Who is singing?
I might be wrong here, but I'm sure that I read on an old IMDB post that its actually the actor playing Conny who is a bit of a ventriloquist doing it.
But don't hold me to that...

Not Conny but Andreas (the blond bully). I also thought it was the little girls making the yellow ice, but I have reluctantly allowed myself to be convinced that it was Andreas.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Anything else wouldn't make sense, because nobody calls Oskar a pig but his four "friends". Everyone else just keeps ignoring him.

D'oh, wrong bully. My bad
Re: Who is singing?
Well, I thought it could make sense to have one of the little girls singing it if it were some sort of common Swedish nursery rhyme. In fact it probably is some sort of common children's song if Andreas is singing it.TAPETRVE wrote:Anything else wouldn't make sense, because nobody calls Oskar a pig but his four "friends". If you watch closely, you can see the cheeks moving and the mouth bulging on the singing bully (the smallest boy). They even zoom in on his face when he starts singing. Why he sings with his mouth closed is up for discussion though. He's a kid and kids do strange things. My best guess is it's a conscious muffler, so the others (especially the teachers) won't have even the slightest chance of hearing the taunting song and draw suspicion that something bad is going on.
Re: Who is singing?
It's true. I think it tells a little bit about Tomas' approach to filmmaking. One of the actors bursting into tears unexpectedly? Let's keep it in! Turns out he is also a ventriloquist? Let's incorporate that! The leads stepping on each other's lines during one of the first scenes? Sure, that'll be great in the film! Of course, that could have been because of time constraints, but I like to think that it wasn't.gareth1971 wrote:I might be wrong here, but I'm sure that I read on an old IMDB post that its actually the actor playing Conny who is a bit of a ventriloquist doing it.

Re: Who is singing?
Hello there all! New guy here! First post from me here as well, nice to meet you's all!
I found this site a few days ago, searching for others who have been affected by this film the way I have been and am happy to read that I am not the only one affected so deeply by what I consider to be one of the BEST films to ever be captured on celluloid. I don't usually join boards, but I really need to talk to others about it, sort of a method of therapy to help me get the tightness out of my chest I've had since I bought the DVD (which I've watched at least once a day for two weeks, sometimes two and three times a day...on my days off....HELP!). lol... A big thank you to Wolfchild for providing an outlet here for me to meet others and discuss the film with them.
As to the who is singing topic, I agree with the idea that it is the blonde bully, as after repeated, repeated and repeated viewings; you can see his cheeks puffing out in time with the singing...
Eli is the cutest vampire EVER!
