FIDO Video Pool Scene Breakdown

Post by abner_mohl » Sat Dec 17, 2011 8:32 pm

POOL SCENE EFFECTS BREAKDOWN VIDEO:
http://vimeo.com/groups/vfx/videos/22447471
In one of the final scenes Oskar is held under water by his bullies. Off screen, we hear Eli coming to the rescue and are given an idea of the mayhem above through what breaks the water surface.
Multiple layer composite with transition from real hand to prop hand etc.

The pool scene effects I've seen somwhere before, but not the bleeding scene. Nice find again !

Eli bleeding breakdown seems to be replaced by a clip of Eli bleeding from the film.

You are unfortunately correct, I did not look through that video and assumed it was like the other FIDO videos. Wish they did have a breakdown of the scene. :(

GRRRRRR...I was hoping to see that. :x
It appears that, slowly there is some additional FX footage starting to show up. I'm sure that there's also more behind the scenes stuff, plus other making of footage. What I'm thinking of is, once there's a decent amount of extra material available, there is no reason why a special edition of LTROI shouldn't be released....or a Criterion Blu disc....Dream, dream, dream.... :)

Wonder what they do with those fake arms and heads once the show is over...

Thank you Abner for this.
I noticed the final cut of Oskar and the arm were digitally un-focused from the original, probably to focus on the head dropping in the pool (maybe because the arm looked pretty fake).
Here's Kåre, Lina and the said arm ready to roll.

I think there are lots of goodies as yet unreleased, if they ever will be.
Refering to the castration flash-back scene-
JAL: They actually shot parts of that. Or started shooting, I know, the one with Eli’s horrible background when she kisses Oskar, or it’s earlier in the movie. I’ve seen brief... it was supposed to be very dreamlike and short and very nasty. And it was, but... it fell over. So it wasn’t included.
Interviewer: The editing process...
JAL: The editing thing. So I’ve seen some of those scenes, that are really great but that are not in the film.
Interviewer: Could it be something for the DVD perhaps later?
JAL: Maybe. But I think Tomas is very disinclined to things like that. I think he kind of wants it to be... like This is what’s there. I think.

FIDO seems to be the one initiating the release of the behind the scenes videos to promote their services, so hopefully there will be additional videos in the future. Maybe we should contact them and beg for more clips.
