For non-swedes, it may be of interest to learn a little trivia related to the passage where the narrator discusses Karin's appearance.
The woman was not a librarian, but a police officer. Should someone have forced me to reveal my image of a female police officer, I would probably have said something about short-cut, black hair, marked cheekbones and sinewy muscles.
