Well, I probably did. It's just that I don't like to put it in terms of "like" or "dislike". I rarely do. Let's say that this novel is thought provoking.Nightrider wrote:Sooooo....You had no reaction....at all.......

And i was going to say:" We had livelier conversations about pickled herring then we did about Himmelstrand.
Would you recommend this book if and when it will be translated into English...

Sure. I find it easier to express likes and dislikes about food, it seems.Nightrider wrote:That's the one....

I guess that you'll get it anyway, don't you?Nightrider wrote:Would you recommend this book if and when it will be translated into English...
But to recommend a book is tricky. This one maybe more so than others.
To my rescue I found a review quoted on Ordfront's FB account for John Ajvide Lindqvist (just an excerpt, probably):
Therese Boman, Tidningen VI
"Ajvide Lindqvist trumps horror master King with his ability to write completely skinless about the fear of losing what really matters - love, family - and all one is prepared to do to defend it. And the perfectly hit tone when he approaches all the most tangled emotions: worry, anxiety, fear, jealousy, bitterness. The most frightening in Himmelstrand is, as in all truly great horror, that which all people carry within themselves." Therese Boman, VI magazine
I hope you find this informative!

Indeed I am. I'm arranging for the Swedish version and will certainly get the English translation.metoo wrote:I guess that you'll get it anyway, don't you?

Re: Got it!
I finished it too. The first of John's books that I haven't been involved in. Quite nerve-wracking to know that it was already finished, and if I didn't like it there was nothing I could do about it. Should have known I could trust him!

<sigh> and so begins the long agonising wait for those of us who can't speak or read Swedish
Re: Got it!
Finished it yesterday. The book left me quite confused, but I did enjoy reading it .
