Hey Eve, thanks for these 'behind the scenes' updates.

From outside the industry, it is quite an eye opener. I didn't realise so much had to be worked out so soon before the first live performance.

The 'branches'? Are they for Oskar's 'whipping' scene?

.
"For a few seconds Oskar saw through Eli’s eyes. And what he saw was … himself. Only much better, more handsome, stronger than what he thought of himself. Seen with love."

Will there be several different sets or NTS will be using some sort of modular piece that moves, revolves and unfolds as the play progresses.
Dundee Rep is a big theatre with a very wide stage. A whole 126m2!

The main set is a fixed location of the jungle gym with the woods around it. The cast will be bringing on pieces of set to indicate different locations; the sweet counter, Oskar's bed, school lockers etc.

The movement between scenes will be very fluid. The adapation is made up of 42 short scenes.

Thank you for the quick response!

Does winter/snow environment will play important role in the NTS stage production?
Will events described in the book/play occur in Scottish settings instead of Swedish? If "YES" than where exactly in Scotland?
Will the change of location from one world region to another bring on certain themes and flavors characteristic to that area or
will this be a verbatim translation to English?
Thank You

Snow will certainly be central to our staging of LTROI.

Our adaptation is set in the same locations as the book/film. Early on there had been a notion to relocate the action to a Scottish town, but as you'll have seen from my previous posts, changes are made frequently at the start of a development process.

We have spoken at NTS HQ frequently about the atmosphere of Oskar's suburb having a similar feel to Scottish towns. We certainly have our fair share of snow and forests too. Dundee is close to being on the same latitude as Gothenburg. Stockholm is just a hop, skip and a jump away from where we're performing - only 800 miles. So Scotland and Sweden aren't too different

Thank you.
I think by the time the play opens I should have enough information to make me feel as if I'm there... :)
Oh heck! Who am I kidding, there's nothing like live theater!
Thanks again for all the details.

An early morning start in Tentsmuir Forest to shoot the teaser trailer for Let The Right One In. The tall trees in this wood 25 minutes outside of Dundee has inspired the set for our adaptation.

Was the light snowfall an post-production add?

I like the use of spray canister sound effect - it's unexpected.

We shot the teaser trailer with Angus, who plays a few characters in the production.
