You just became a vampire, what's your next move?

Post by SFTifoso » Tue May 29, 2012 8:28 am

If you had just been forcefully "turned", what would your next move be? Eventually you'd have to kill someone, who would that be? Or would just stay up and wait for the sunlight to kill you? If you chose to live, how would sleep or protect yourself from the sunlight? What about your family, GF/BF, friends; would you tell them or would just run away.

If it was me, I wouldn't commit suicide. I think my first reaction would be to run away. Find some a secluded place to think things over and protect myself from the coming daylight.

Eventually I would get hungry though. I think I would probably try to kill animals first, just to see if their blood would work, but I know full well it's human blood I need. But at least you gotta do your due diligence. I guess I would try to select my victims by their actions/morality; criminals/murderers/dealers basically. There's plenty of gangs here in Los Angeles, so I would have plenty of food. I know it's still wrong, because you never know each individual's situation, but I'm definitely not killing a loving family or anything like that.

Just thinking about having to go out, find some poor bastard, stalk him, pounce on him or incapacitate him somehow, drink him dry, and then break his neck, it's terrible really. It's so easy, to say, "being a vampire would be awesome", but thinking about all these little details, it's just terrible. I can definitely see why Eli needs a helper. As a vampire you're threading on thin ice with the daylight. Just try to imagine how hard it must be during the summer months.

I'll give this some more thought, what would you all do? And try to really imagine being a vampire.

How would you judge who's worthy of destruction and who should be left unaccosted? Without knowing anything about your prospective victims apart from what immediately reaches the eyes, ears or nose, how would you assess that said prospective victim conforms or doesn't conform to whatever guidelines you choose to follow in reality rather than just apparently?

Is it just better to just kill indiscriminately then?

I believe you begin to perceive one of the major problems of applying human morality to a vampire.

I can't lose the relationships to my family and BFF, I honestly have no idea. I would probably run away to avoid hurting them but I would get really sad and depressed. I know that without people there's nothing to live for. Maybe I would try to live for a while, see how I handled it, and then kill myself if I see no hope.
Please do not twist my brain like that.. 8-)

I think I'd Google the top three medical centers in the country that deal with blood disoders and march myself into the nearest one. Tell them clearly what is wrong with me, and prove it with my weird physiology. Then I'd tell them that I'd be their patient and allow them to study me in exchange for total secrecy and a full blood supply. If they don't agree, go to the next center. If science couldn't cure me, I would try to use the contacts I'd made during my workup to develop a circle of donors.

You've pretty much summed up what I would try -- and I would hope I wouldn't get too hungry before the appropriate medical center was found.

I think I'd hunt whomever it was that infected me and take them out. Sort as a Thank You payment.

I think my first kill would have to be someone in the community of unwelcome stature. It would most likely be someone who is loathed in the community anyways. It might be a known criminal or someone who is expected of child abuse or something like that. It would be a vigilante thing for a while. At some point it wouldn't matter anymore when the gray area settles in and the morality of the issue begins to hit home. The question would be "what is a moral killing?" After a while the lines would blur and killing would just become killing regardless of who it was, be it saint or sinner. Once it became a survival technique it wouldn't matter.

As for running away or telling loved ones, I'd have to run away. I'd isolate myself regardless of how difficult it may be. I know it's much easier said than done but it would be better than the risk of hurting them. I don't think I'd do like the Eli I created in my FF would do and constantly check in on what used to be my family. I may write them some time after I've left but I'd never tell them what happened to me. I may just let them believe I was dead because, technically, I would be. Leaving the ones I love would be much more of a battle than worrying about the poor saps I have to kill to sustain myself.

Being a vampire would not be awesome. It would be a lonely existence to have to live in darkness and only roam when the rest of the world is sleeping. The immortal part is even worse. I wouldn't want to live forever with knowing that I will only exist in darkness and I have to kill others to survive. That kind of lifestyle is not glamorous or pretty. It's true that you might be more powerful and more dominant than the human race, but at what cost?

"forcefully turned" God, those are two words I do not like together. It makes me sick.

If I were turned, right now? Let's just say that no one will know I am a vampire...
I wouldn't mind being the 'Vampire Batman' of my city. Killing those who I think are unfit to live. I would be a very twisted Batman. Full costume and everything even though there would not be any use for them.

If I were forced to the absolute limit that damaged my last morsel of mental consciousnesses, I would not not how to describe it well for you
