Any idea on when or if it will be out in English?

Re: Penguin Classics cover
Well, considering that the info we've heard so far is that it will be included in a short story collection I would say chances are slim for a translation, considering that Paper walls has not been translated and doesn't seem planned to be either. However, since the story is not very long according to what John himself has said it's not unlikely that there will be unofficial translations available...El Defenestrator wrote:Any idea on when or if it will be out in English?

Well, time to start x-ing the days on the calendar. Thanks for the update John.

Maybe I'm reading too much into that line, but the fact that John mentions both Oskar and Eli seems to indicate that they are still together. ::sigh:: We can hope.johnajvide wrote:...Oskar and Eli are two very minor characters in that story."
By the way: Thanks again, John, for keeping us Infected in mind. You really are a class act. :)

Norwegian vampires and Norwegian street names in Blackeberg - yes, I think I will like this!

Look at the OP, a picture of Edvard Munch's painting Vampyren, which johnajvide popped in and told us he's referring to in Let the Old Dreams Die.

Hmm... I wonder where you got the idea that that is what this paining is called? Munch himself certainly did not call it that: he always insisted it was "just a woman kissing a man on the head" and his original title was "Loe and Pain". The title "Vampire" was invented by Stanisław Przybyszewski http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislaw_Przybyszewskidrakkar wrote:Look at the OP, a picture of Edvard Munch's painting Vampyren, which johnajvide popped in and told us he's referring to in Let the Old Dreams Die.
a decadent Polish dramatist and critic, obsessed with sex and Satanism (who actually pimped his wife to prove his broad mindedness). In any case, even Przypyszewski never suggested that the man in the paining is also a vampire so I assume the title "Vampyren" is your invention.
As I have already written, personally I can hardly think of an example of a painting that is less suitable as a representation of the relationship between Eli and Oskar, unless of course you are a fan of the view that Eli sexually dominates Oskar. Of course, as with any art work, other views are possible. A number of interesting views of this painting can be found on this page:

I have often remarked that some many things in LTROI are so ambiguous that is like a mirror: When people try to fill in the blanks, they end up filling them in with themselves.

The official name of the painting is Vampyr.
That is the name used by the Munch Museum/Gallery and that's fine with me.
