My thoughts on the audiobook...

Finally finished listening to the audiobook, took me a while to get through. Listening to it makes it feel much slower than reading it in print in my opinion, particularly with the non Oskar/Eli stuff.

Overall I thought Steven Pacey was decent. I've listened to better but I've also listened to worse. I thought he did a good job with Eli's voice (light and breathy) but Tommy's for example came off as almost nasally. One thing that gave me pause was how he pronounced Eli-- almost like "Eee-lay". I was under the impression that it was "Eee-lee". But eventually I got used to it.

I'd give it a passing recommendation. It might make a nice change of pace from reading the book again but it's not essential in my opinion.

Thanks. I've considered getting this at times. I have audio for several of JAL's books - sometimes in German rather than English. But I've held off on the audio for LTROI.

I have listened to some of the same one, a while back. I got like super infected again for like 2 days and I bought the audiobook online and listened to the happiest parts. But did eventually come across the bastement scene with Håkan Eli and Tommy and just couldn't stop. It really screwed with me so yeh I can't listen to it anymore. But I think he did alright. I don't usually listen to audiobooks so I don't have much to compare it to in terms of quallity.

When you say screwed me up do you mean that it was too frightening or just badly narrated?..I've listened to parts of it on you tube and some voices he did well but some not so much.I've been seriously thinking about getting it.

What I mean is: Over the course of the last few years, after I have read the book a few times I have diveloped mental illnesses. And when I listened to it, it triggered me and frighetened me very much, becaue of my mental illness. Nothing against the writing of JAL or the preformence of the reader in the audiobook itself. I know now that I can't read or listen to the book again, which makes me really sad.

I thought it was pretty good. I've listened to it a few times.

But yes, "Eee-lay" is a tad annoying when one considers Mr Pacey is English and there is absolutely no reason for it to be pronounced that way in English.

I would love to see an audiobook by John Ajvide himself.
