Fangoria.com posted the cover for the third issue (Feb., 2011) of the upcoming LMI comic book prequel "Crossroads" premiering this Dec. The horror of having to endure 3+ issues of this thing, hope Dark Horse loses money on it. The cover looks like another cliched spoof of the Grant Wood painting "American Gothic", minus the pitchfork:

Certainly looking cool per se, but put into context, it reeks.

What's with all of the dots/spots all over the cover.
Is it the reverse of the "blood" on the folks.
Sigh....
While wandering here between posts and FF, I am gradually getting convinced, that I haven't seen anywhere more beautiful madness than on this forum. Clubmeister

Given how poor the film did in theaters, and how usually a small 'niche' of fans usually check out comic book tie-ins to films to begin with, I can't imagine these selling well at all. Selling it in October could have helped, too.

I'm going to at least look at the comic when it comes out in Dec. Why? Well, I've always been into sci/fi & fantasy. But I had never read any of the Lord of the Rings books until after the movies came out. How did I not get into it? When I was about 13, I saw this book at a yard sale called "The Hobbit." But on the cover was the picture of a griffin. Not knowing what either a hobbit or a griffin were, I assumed the griffen was the hobbit. So I put the book back, and never learned about LOTR until my late 20s.
The point is, don't judge a book by its cover

Actually when you think about it, the timing is interesting. When it comes out in Dec., it maybe too late for the theatrical release, but will be in time for the Blu-ray/DVD release, which will probably be in Jan. or Feb. It's seems as if Dark Horse knew LMI was not going to do well at the box office and decided to cash in on the DVD.
