You actually sat down and watched an interview in a language you don't understand!? :o

Well, I will be off to work now and will probably not post more translations for at least 12h.
Meanwhile; here are a few more lines. No timestamps yet, you will have to figure out where they belong by yourselves.

---

03:02 But in that the movies endings aren't as open
03:05 I wanted to give my version of
03:08 what happens to these two afterwards anyway.

OL: Just det.
03:10 Quite so.

And then I ask like this: Let The Old Dreams Die, anyway, is that, do you only aim for, eh, so to speak,

the continuation of Let the Right One In or is there anything else about that title?

Are there more dreams one should leave behind and find new ones?

JAL: Ja, alltså nu har ju novellen blivit sk.. det är ju egentligen Let the Right One in det är ju en sång utav Morrissey
Well, since the story now have been wr.. the thing is that Let the Right One in is a song by Morrissey

JAL: och i den sången så är nästa rad "Let the right one in - Let the old dreams die", det är ju nästa rad i sången,
And in that song the next line is "Let the right one in - Let the old dreams die", that is the next line in the song.

But then it is also av very suitable name for a text collection like this I think

because it is very much about all these dreams or images that I have had at some time

and now I gather those so that they may die and be left alone and be gone.

And then there is this story that not really is about Eli and Oskar but rather deals with another couple,

An older couple in Blackeberg, but that has a relation to Oskar and Eli which allows you to get to know what happens with them.

That line becomes very relevant in their story, to leave the old behind, find something else.

I like how he talks about the notion of writing as a device by which a bunch of ideas become ossified onto a page and thereby, in a sense, 'die.' This is very true. It's sort of like pinning a butterfly.

Dude. We eat Swedish interviews for breakfast around here.
I remember watching the whole Guldbagge awards ceremony. JAL wasn't there but it was worth it for the occasional shot of the kids, Per, and then Tomas got an award. Everything was mostly inintelligible, but fun.

Seriously, many thanks for the trouble you took with the transcription and translation.

I didn't really feel like translating stuff tonight, but here are a few more lines.

---

That line becomes very relevant in their story, to leave the old behind, find something else.

I thought that it in itself was great, that it coincided with the song and that it fit so very well.

That is as a title for a book and as a sequel to Let The Right One In, it is like it was ment to be like that.

OL: Det tyckte jag var lite spännande.
I thought it was a bit exciting.

JAL: Det tyckte jag med. Och just det! sedan har jag sett människor som citerat den här Let the Right One In och det här,
I thought so too. And while we are at it! I have seen people quote this Let the Right One In and that,

JAL: och den biten av citat hade jag aldrig uppfattat, uhm, "Let the right one in - Let the old dreams die" - blaha blaha, och sedan när slutet kommer;
and the part of the quote that I never thought of, uhm, "Let the right one in - Let the old dreams die" yadda yadda, and then at the end;

JAL: "And when at last it does I'd say you were within you rights to bite the right one saying; what kept you so long?"
"And when at last it does I'd say you were within you rights to bite the right one saying; what kept you so long?"

and this line I had luckily overlooked, otherwise I would surely have quoted it and that would have been pretty corny.

OL: Hahahaha
Hahahaha

It is funny that you say that it is corny because you do touch that subject a bit in the book, that when you

get bombastic it very easily transcends into corny, but that you have to be that to describe certain occurances and such.

Yes, exactly, one has to balance a bit on the edge to the silly.

I mean with this kind of story it is always a risk you take, one uses this kind of epic like in harb...

My second last book Harbour where there is a very epic monster that shows up at the end and some people think that it is too much.

But for me it is like that.. I like it that way, there should not be any intra-psychological explanation,

sometimes there should really be a huge fucking monster that shows up.

It does not have to be more complicated than that?

It does not have to be more complicated than that, no.

I did a comparsion or some parallell, just verbally once when I was going to describe you I sad like this:

That it is the litteratures version of the musics Håkan Hellström.

JAL: Ja?
Yes?

OL: Alltså sådär egen, unik, fast ändå väldigt väldigt populär. En kombination som ju är svår.
That is a bit odd, unique, but still very very popular. A combination that is quite tricky.

I have to add my thanks to bore for the translations and of course John Linqvist for mentioning our site. It's moments like this that make our efforts well worth it.
"Can we die?" "Of course we can." Eli put his hand on his heart, felt the slow beats. Maybe it was because he was a child. Maybe that was why he hadn't put an end to it. The pangs of conscience were weaker than his will to live.

Just wanted to step in and say that it is not done yet, it's just that I don't feel like spending a lot of time on it each day so it will take a few days until it's done.

Thanks bore, and have to say I love this place :D

Also have to agree with John - the intra-psychological bits should be in the writer's head, not in the heads of the characters.

Thanks for this and thanks for the work bore. I cant wait for the American edition of LTODD, im considering getting the swedish version and try to translate it with google

Oh, by the way, i also want to use this post to say im still alive and i try to read the forum, at least once per month. (And every time i check it is as wonderful as always) My absolute lack of any input (if i ever did any) is due to an, agh, inhumanly busy schedule. But im having some kind of break this days so at least i'll try to post my gratefulness somewhere else :)
