Yup, it's him. Showing Owen wearing a mask too is probably Matt Reeve's really clever and subtle foreshadowing of the kid's future...

Huh? Looks like a pigmy marmoset to me...

Just a bit. It was probably inspired by the old cucumber space monkeys. I'm sure Matt was lurking around the forums while he was having the conference with the designer guys.

I think you guys are over doing the mask business. (there are other ominous bits like the taglines  ).

The Jenkins character is wearing a plastic bag to conceal his face to he can't be ID and give his friend away. Also the plastic helps to protect from the arterial spray, much like the plastic rain coat that Hakan wears in the original. I like a mask for Owen because it at least shows that Reeves was paying attention to that part of the story. He may even have read the book. :o When Oskar plays his "game" in the original he assumes a new identity, that of the "killer." This is a nice way to visualize what is going on in Owen's head.

I'll break open the story and tell you what is there. Then, like the others that have fallen out onto the sand, I will finish with it, and the wind will take it away.
