Total worldwide box office for LMI as of 10/22/2010:
Domestic: $11,359,152 95.7%
+ Foreign: $506,613 4.3%
= Worldwide: $11,865,765
Looks like the foreign gross is pretty anemic, I think so far it has opened in Australia, France, Spain and maybe Japan. Will still be interesting to see the UK box office. I suspect that the release date for the DVD will be announced after the UK release.

I saw the movie 5 times at the biggest movie theater around here. At all showings there was less then 5 people in the whole theater.

I think it was because it was from vampire fatigue, with Twilight poisoning the well for LMI, I think there is still a chance of it picking up an audience through perhaps the various upcoming movie awards, I suspect that Richard Jenkins could pick up a best supporting actor academy award nomination, and the best picture category nominees has been increased from five to ten, so LMI could be nominated because last year District 9 picked up best picture nomination thanks to that. Chances of winning is another matter but could draw more interest to LMI, and hopefully LTROI.

Now I wonder how long it will take for the DVD sales to start. We have three theaters where I live. Only 2 had LMI when it opens. After a week, it was down to one and that one dropped it as of friday. Glad I got to see it before it vanished.

One website was estimating Feb. 2011 because generally there is a 3 month window the studios generally go thru between the theatrical run and dvd release, but it could be sooner for LMI because it unexpectedly "flopped", although it's budget was a fraction of your typical Hollywood movie and pretty much earned half of what it cost to film.

While this is of course possible, I went to see 'Vampires Suck' yesterday afternoon and it was packed (with teenage girls I'll admit). In my defence I should add that I was persuaded to go by a bigger Twilight fan than I am, my mum actually

I'll have to check to see what it's up against when it comes out here in UK, but I really can't see that it'll take much money tbh.

I'm not sure if the vampiric subject is to blame... puting myself in the shoes of a moviegoer with only a cursory knowledge of the story, I'd personally consider the "demonic child" element to be a major turn off. Evil kids (vampires or otherwise) have been done to death and hold no interest to me -- the only example I view as truly successful is Damien from Richard Donner's The Omen. And this is an Evil Kid in love? No thanks.
The second factor in my potential disinterest would be the title. Let Me In. Yeah, minor issue but... the first person makes it sound cheesy to me for some reason. Kids and cheesiness, just no.
In a gloomy empty land, with dreary hills ahead.

And yet, Case 39 did well, and it really was about an evil kid... yet the story was formulaic and predictable, filled with cheesy CGI instead of plot... ah, but that's what the public wanted....
