Getting pulled out of theaters already?
Someone on IMDB said that his Albany NY theater stopped showing Let Me In. I checked Fandango for my local theaters, and the closest theater nearby me stopped showing it this week and the next closest has it for one more week.
A bit surprised that they wouldn't keep it on for Halloween at least. How is it faring in your theaters?

pulled out of most of the theaters in my area except one, and that theater has only one showing. it is an AMC and will probably linger until Halloween.

It's still in the theaters by me, AMC has it and another local theater has it playing. I might see it again before it leaves the theaters but there's so many movies coming out.

The local Rave still has it at least until next week. Can't see beyond like 4 days on their web site though.
Oddly, Case 39 is at two theaters.. mindboggling.

They are only having one late showing per night here.

Really weird. Case 39 was considered so bad by the studio that it sat on the shelf for 4 years until they saw it was doing well overseas.wolfshadow wrote:Oddly, Case 39 is at two theaters.. mindboggling.

All four major theaters are playing it all day and night here in Florida.

I'll have to wrap my head around the fact that LTROI may have enjoyed a longer theatrical run HERE, one year after its release date in USA, than Let Me In will have in its home country.
It simply does not compute. Case 39 must be terrible -- I only remember it because we saw a trailer for it a couple of months ago and I turned to my wife and commented on exactly how awful it looked. One thing the success of Transformers and the failure of Let Me In teaches us is that critics are largely irrelevant for most audiences.

How is it that LTROI itself didn't teach you that?Struan wrote:One thing the success of Transformers and the failure of Let Me In teaches us is that critics are largely irrelevant for most audiences.
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

That is true, but hey, that one was subtitledWolfchild wrote:How is it that LTROI itself didn't teach you that?
Just for the record, I still think that LMI shouldn't have been done, especially so close in time to the original. I can see why JAL is thrilled (who wouldn't) but I can't help feeling that it was a disrespectful move towards Tomas, moreso considering how heavily LMI reportedly draws from his movie. The net undeniable effect is that anyone who sees LMI first is gonna have LTROI spoiled, and probably won't feel the same exhilarated surprise we felt at watching a couple of severed limbs float down to the bottom of a pool.
That said, by all accounts LMI is an above-average effort, and without having watched it I can at least recognize that its reception was far better than I had expected, even among some of the Infected. I can't find solace in its box office failure. I still don't expect it to touch the original, but I think I'll grab it when it comes on DVD, if anything, out of sheer curiosity at how well the general mood is recreated.
