Yeah I have read the book but in that Eli doesn't understand why he doesn't age. When talking to Oskar Eli says that he sleeps for very long periods of time and when he wakes up he is weak again. Also from what Eli says it sounds like after he was turned he pretty much had to fend for himself and learn how to survive. Only met one other during that time. I was just thinking that it could be possible that Eli could find a way to age. Maybe by not sleeping as much if there is a reason behind all of that. JAL didn't go into lots of detail, maybe because there was no need to or maybe also so that some things are possible that he doesn't know yet. When talking to Oskar Eli snapped back "have you got any better ideas!?" when Oskar asked why Eli has to kill the people. Then Eli buys blood. He hadn't done that before either so maybe it's possible that there is a way to get older too. It's a long shot but vampires aren't real anyway, in this story Eli is different from vampires in other films. I just think with good ideas and a clever story line it could be possible
