Music used in NTS production

Music used in NTS production
We're excited to have been granted permission to use the music of Ólafur Arnalds for our upcoming production of LTROI. Ólafur is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Iceland. His piano and string based mixes are supplemented with suprising electronic loops. There's lots of texture and layers to his work.

What music do you think of when you read the novel of LTROI?

Re: Music used in NTS production
Will Ólöf Arnalds' compositions be employed as a full soundtrack to the play or will it be used in some key sequences supplemented by additional music?

Although, I will hastily add that Ólöf Arnalds' music is very good and I'm sure will fit well with the play ... I think I got away with that *whew*.

Ólafur's music will be integrated into a full soundscape by Gareth Fry (http://www.garethfry.co.uk/Gareth_Fry/News.html) who was also the sound designer of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games and of our international hit show, Black Watch. We'll have more info on this as the production continues rehearsals.Nightrider wrote:Will Ólöf Arnalds' compositions be employed as a full soundtrack to the play or will it be used in some key sequences supplemented by additional music?

Yes. That scene does change a little when you actually hear the song mentioned in the novel...Jameron wrote:Works in the UK, although I almost wish it didn't. Twelve-year-olds have the worst taste in music

I keep thinking of Sigur Ros, ever heard of them?

I think anything off of ( ) or Ágætis byrjun would work, even the entirety of one of those albums. I first thought though "Hmm, maybe not dark enough when it comes to ambiance.." but I don't think it would matter, it'd be fitting enough - probably even pretty damn perfect for an adaptation.intrige wrote:I keep thinking of Sigur Ros, ever heard of them?
I remember quickly searching for this on YouTube, I never found it. So here goes! Hopefully not too awful.metoo wrote: Flickan i hagen with Vikingarna, Oskar's favourite.
