You can do anything you want... old writing, new writing, editing, adding , subtracting....Just do it!

Someone from this site has to win, how humiliating would it be if an uninfected person won?

Anyway I don't think it would be cheating to edit the one you have down, it doesn't say anything about not doing that ;) .

Infected Team GB :D .

Y'know, you're right, what have I got to lose?

I'm just going to have to not get carried away with the possibility of winning, is all.

.

I think I'll edit the one I have, until I'm happy with it. Put that on one side, and see if I can come up with something else as well. That way, at least I'll have one entry. I wonder if one can enter more than once?

Thanks guys :)

I think I might enter this competition, I haven't written a short story since high school and I use to get great marks for my short storys.

There is nothing in the rules that says the submission must be unpublished, so anything that has been posted here could be submitted. Many of you have posted things over in Fan Content that could be submitted. I would submit Letters, but it comes in at 8600 words, and I don't see how I could cut it in half. I don't care about not being a UK resident. I'd just be curious what, if anything, they would say about it.

In fact, maybe I'll submit it anyways - and plug this site a the same time. ;)
...the story derives a lot of its appeal from its sense of despair and a darkness in which the love of Eli and Oskar seems to shine with a strange and disturbing light.

Deadline fast approaching.

How many people have submitted something?

I submitted a cut down version of the one shot that I published here a while back. I tidied up the 'past tense' to 'present tense' jump by only having Oskar's dreamstate thoughts in the present tense, and Eli's actions still in the past tense. There was also a bit of dialogue that was not deliberately, on my part, ambiguous as to who was saying what. So now it is clear that Oskar is saying it all. And the deliberately ambiguous, on my part, ending is now not ambiguous any more. I originally left it ambiguous so that I could continue the story if I got the drive and inspiration to do so, but an ambiguous ending is not what an epilogue is all about.

I'm not expecting to win, I know there are many many people that can write a proper story (unlike me), but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Did you submit something Makalli?

I'm not expecting to win either, I haven't written something like that for ages.

But I did submit something (2 minutes late  )

I've been trying all day to finish the last paragraph in summary of what happens (the 300 word one), and I just couldn't do it. I mean 300 words, I could write 300 pages.

Don't know where to post it either (assuming anyone would want to read it anyway), because it's not exactly fan fiction.
