He wasnt even stabbing the tree, he was pecking it. It seemed like he was trying to break some record on tree stabbing. Kare gave rage in his scene.

And to follow up on that even though its not about Oskar/Owen is the lame shot when Owen turns around to see Abbey and shes like right their. In contrast to the original where it was almost epic like. I know it shouldnt be the same but if you ask me it shouldnt have been made.

Then as was said he goes back to pecking the tree. But he looked like he was doing some chore and he was cranky doing it. "Leave me alone Im trying to break a record here"

And here's another point that's a bit off-topic: In the book and in LTROI, the first thing Eli does that makes us think something is...off...is when she jumps down from the top of the jungle gym; in the film, she sort of glides down, but in a subtle way that makes the viewer go, "Huh? Did she just kinda float down?" Whereas in LMI, we see Abby going barefoot in the snow. OK, that's kinda strange, but not terribly paranormal. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense either. I mean, Abby is wearing a hoodie or a jacket, dressed fairly normal for winter...but no shoes. Huh? With Eli, she wore only a T-shirt in the freezing cold, which is what prompted Oskar to ask if she was cold. With Abby, Owen asks her because she's barefoot; another aspect of the story that seems forced in Reeves' movie. Maybe Lina is a bit tougher when it comes to dealing with the cold than Chloe is. :)

I found that scene very humorous. Jesus watching him from that little picture on the mirror as he swipe's his mom's $20.

I believe they both did a wonderful job, there were lots of scenes in both movies that were powerful. When I step back and look at it I see two characters being played by how they felt the character should be portrayed. Oscar was terrified of Eli in the novel, they both are different in many ways in the film but they both did a wonderful job. :)
