If I were to the jungle Gym and I sat there solving my Rubik cube (starting by the corners, obviously) I wonder what the people around would think.

Probably "another freak of that movie". Or maybe they didn't even recognize the scene at all.

Just wondering...
Then, window, let day in, and let life out.

Yeah I've wondered that too. Do people in Blackeberg and Luleå know how famous some of their scenery is? Can they spot a LTROI fan from a mile away?

I'd really like to visit both jungle gyms and their respective surroundings, I love the jungle gym in the film (filmed in Luleå). And I love the photos I've seen of real life Blackeberg -Drakkar has taken some amazing ones, like the one below. But as I'm a student, I'm skint .

Visiting the courtyard during winter, in the dark, was magic. We did the same thing in in daylight, and then I (we) felt felt a bit as intruders.

They asked if (hoped) I was a reporter, covering the building of some unpopular apartment complexes the locals felt would destroy their beloved Blackeberg. So no, they could not see I was searching for the place Håkan got rid of Jocke's body! :ugeek:

A mysterious photographer peeking around darkness places, making locals wondering about him.

It looks like you brought that unpleasant feeling and atmosphere that Hakan did to the locals at Blackberg in the book

1. Oskar's Apartment - modestly furnished, but clean and with good food
Well, this i may spend my time there. it's not bad.
2. Eli's Apartment - very sparsely furnished, no food in the frig, and a bad odor
Well, maybe not this place.
3. The courtyard of the apartment - not much to do, an unimpressive jungle gym, but you feel secure
i like the idea of spending time outside, especially in the cloudy, cold days. I'm a winter type of person.
4. The Chinese Restaurant - typical chinese cuisine, maybe some friendly company
Well i love chinese food and i may certainly like some company there.
5. Gosta's place - endure the odor and get covered in cat hair
Well i'm a cat lover, i may spend my time there. i could clean the place, take care of the cats, clear the air of cat smells and take care of the urine and cat poop.
6. Virginia's place - have a glass of wine 'cause she isn't drinking any more
No, i wouldn't want to spend time there.
7. The train station - enjoy the architecture, the hustle and bustle, and maybe get some candy at the newsstand
I most certainly would like that. I can spend time there.
8. Down by the lake - in case you like ice skating?
I can't skate to save my life. I can't even balance properly.
9. Ghost hill (not really seen in the film, but there nonetheless) for all you sledders
I don't believe in no ghost. But i can be curious to check it out.

[qoute]10. The Centrum - beware of small people in the trees![/quote]

I don't know what's a centrum.
11. Oskar's school - in case you want to relive your childhood?
Why would i want to go to his school?
12. The pool - just don't drink the water.
There's a lot of nasty stuff in the water.
13. The hospital - bring your fire extinguisher and watch those windows!
No thanks.

I bet it was magic. Must have been like stepping into the book, with the only things missing being Oskar and Eli.

I wonder how much that courtyard has changed since 1981  .

Since John and Oskar lived in the same apartment, and John's mother still lives there (I believe...), you still feel the connection.
The courtyard? The playground described in the book is the present one. The trees are old and were standing back then pretty much like they are now, but the playground has probably changed a bit since 1981..

Well the jungle-gym wasn't there when John was a kid, I know that.
Ha! I bet they should know by now.
I remember taking pictures for a story I was writing, of a campingplace. and I ran around taking pictures to remember details.. Amd then a kid came to me and siad:
"Why ae you taking pictures of us?" I answered:
"Not you, all the things." Then he nodded and walked away. What would you answer Drakkar?
"I'm just trying to find out where Håkan hid Jocke's body. Know it?"

Yeah, but I will be there one day taking pictures, I think we all know that!

Even if John's books are popular, I doubt Blackberg is getting run down by location "tourists". Not enough to attract attention anyway. There aren't that many geeks like us. :D :geek:
When I told the lady what I was doing there, she was slightly disappointed I wasn't a reporter covering the erecting of these new buildings she thought was so ugly. Period.
I never learned whether she read any JAL books or not.

If I had to visit one place in the film? Hmm, probably Oscar's dad's place - it actually seems quite a cosy little place and I wouldn't mind having a go on the snowmobile!
