Love and fear

Post by ltroifanatic » Thu Mar 03, 2016 1:59 am

Hi..I guess its been said before but I really love this beautiful story (the film and the book) but have a fear of the infection waning over time.Thats not the case yet,in fact the opposite but I know love changes over time and sometimes the intensity fades or at least changes.Music is my other passion (besides my wife and family) and I,ve been playing and practising for over 50 years and I can't stop.I've identified the fear of loss (loss of technique, dexterity etc) as being a driving factor.I don't need to do it but I must.So it is with LTROI.I read and reread and watch and rewatch and listen and relisten to it over and over so I don't lose the fantastic feelings it gives to me.That is why this forum and its people are so important to me.As I read the great fan fiction and the fascinating threads and discussions and artwork it gives me hope that in 50 years (lol I wish) my love for this work of art will be as strong as ever.I don't post much as I sometimes have difficulty finding the right words and nearly all of my questions have been answered but rest assured I'm here every day reading looking and keeping the infection as strong as ever.Thank you all. :D
Please Oskar.Be me for a little while.

I'm not sure if you've read his other books but he has plenty to offer.

I don't have a fear of my infection waning. My love of many things over the years remains bright and fresh. The trouble is that the other passions did not come with a great site like We, the Infected, so my previous (and still current) passions remains bright and shiny, but they all carry with them the loneliness of having no one to talk to about them.

So, ltroifanatic, my anxiety it that others' love of LTROI will fade and I'll be, once again, the last fan, the one who is left to turn out the lights and go home. If that ever happens, I will be very sad indeed. And yet, I am so very certain that the several close friends I've made through this forum will still be friends no matter what happens and that we will always want to share our ideas and feelings about this wonderful experience. And that makes be very happy. :D

Hey, I got infected at 16. Now I'm 22, all grown up, my infection has changed but I am still infected. There's no harm in it fading or changing, or even disapearing. It is just the way it goes. And to be honest me losing my infection is the least of my worries. Maybe that's why it has stayed so long? ;) I donno.

The intense infection is great while it lasts though! Enjoy it!

My infection has been bothering me for quite some time now, the Doctors say tha.....oh wait. That type of Infection. Yeah, the content may grow old, but like Will Bloom said in the film Bigfish "Have you ever heard a joke so many times you've forgotten why it's funny? And then you hear it again and suddenly it's new. You remember why you loved it in the first place." I think that rings true to many things that we fear we will no longer love after a certain amount of time has passed. Love is interesting in that we fear that we will one day lose it. However, that fear of feeling like you are losing interest in something you love is a fear because you still love it :D

Sorry to go against your feelings of anxiety, but that's never going to happen my friend. This is a home for me and many others. I'm here to stay, and the lights will remain on.

Wonderful!! Grab a spare bathtub and make yourself at home.
