The 2024 movie is available now on Kanopy in the U.S.

Kanopy is a service often available through public libraries (I cannot speak for elsewhere. Anybody know?). If you are in the U.S. and have a library card at your town public library, check out the library's on-line portal and see whether your library card gets you free access to Kanopy. If they do and you opt for it, you'll get about a dozen monthly tickets to watch items from the Kanopy collection. Most movies cost 2 tickets and give you 72 hrs before the movie is electronically returned.

I'm about 20 mins in. Okay... um. We need to talk. Where Is The Story? Is there going to be dialog? Meaningful story development? Did I put on the wrong movie?

As I've posted elsewhere, it works better if one doesn't expect it to be like the book beyond the initial premise. Hvistendahl's focus was on making a slow, quiet, small-scale meditation on grief more than anything.
De höll om varandra i tystnad. Oskar blundade och visste: detta var det största. Ljuset från lyktan i portvalvet trängde svagt in genom hans slutna ögonlock, la en hinna av rött för hans ögon. Det största.

Thanks good to know.
I'll take a deep breath, forget the book, and press Continue.

Rewound and started anew.... Glad to have given this a watch.
The opening is hard to sync with but once I accepted the slow, somber pace, all flowed well. Some horrific moments along the way, of course. I liked how the three parallel progressions came, each, to an appropriate end for their course.
