Remembering the TNT adaptation
It just came back to my mind the first attempt of adapting LTROI to tv-series format by TNT back in 2016, a project that ended with only one pilot episode that did not convince those in charge to give it the green light. The truth is that the cancellation of the show caused a curious mix of sadness and joy in me. On the one hand, it made me sad to know that Oskar and Eli's franchise would not expand further, but knowing some of the information that was known about the project, I am convinced that it would have been an insult to JAL's masterpiece, although perhaps not as much as the Showtime series. Although I liked the detail that, presumably, they were going to add Tommy and other exclusive elements from the novels and the appropiate location in Vermont, I have to say that the simple fact that they were going to get Oskar and Eli played by grown teenagers instead of children would have ruined the story for me, since it would have completely ignored the main theme of the original work (the loss of innocence) and turned the series a typical CW show. That said, I would still like to see the pilot and the rest of the material that was filmed. I would even gladly change the Showtime series for the TNT one, since, even though it would have been a bad adaptation, it still could have been considered a proper and legit adaptation in the end. What do you guys think? Are you glad it got cancelled or would you still prefer it over the Showtime show?

I thought Kristoffer Joner played Hakan for the pilot? Unless you meant Mads as a fancast? He would be great though.

Sorry, my stupid mind played by me. I don't know why, but I confused Thomas Kretchsman with Mads Mikkelsen. Anyway, I 100% agree Mads, despite being too handsome, would make a great HäkanCyberGhostface wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 9:41 pmI thought Kristoffer Joner played Hakan for the pilot?
