Can I just object to the fact that they're giving THE ENTIRE STORY away? Most disturbing.

Fortunately JAL is one of the best storytellers out there, so you aren't really spoiled that much. The journey through the book is much more important than the goal in the end.

Yes - when I read LTROI, I'd already watched the film and I even knew, from the web, the main plot differences between the two, and it certainly didn't ruin it.

I have to wonder if LTODD - the book - will ever be translated to English. They are going to lift LTODD - the story - from it and publish it instead in the English translation of Paper Walls. This will certainly increase the sales of the Paper Walls English translation, but I'm not sure this will leave any commercial viability in an English translation of the rest of LTODD.

Having read most of LTODD by now I pretty much have to agree with the analysis, but I also actually think that the commercial potential outside Sweden for many of the texts in LTODD is very limited. The script of John's Summer Program from 2006 for instance I think would be difficult to relate to, as well as his text about the Gothenburg Film Festival. I could be wrong of course and I'm sure several of the members of this forum would enjoy reading LTODD, but for the larger audience - no, don't think so.
Some of the short stories however are really good - Burning up Phone books, Antics hour, The Girl, The Uglity, Tindalos - and could either make up a thin story collection or be further part of a thicker English version of Paper Walls. All the title translations are my own, so you'll have to wait and see for what any official English translations would be called - especially 'The Uglity' which has a grammatically faulty name in Swedish as well which I've tried "translating" - It's about a bullied girl's revenge in any case.
