Steal would be the proper term, I think.

How about, temporarily reassigns the spatial coordinates?

I wouldn't think temporarily be a correct characterisation...

Speaking of 'five finger discounts', this gives me renewed faith that Oskar and Eli will do very well together.

Pop Quiz:
Which three items from this list are things that Oskar does not 'expropriate' / 'permanently borrow' / 'temporarily reassign the spatial coordinates' / 'steal':
a) Dajm bars (from Sabis, the local grocery store)
b) Rubik's Cube (from the toy store in the Vällingby town square)
c) subway ticket (from the subway)
d) Ahlgrens Bilar [candy cars] (from Sabis)
e) Snus tins (from ICA grocery)
f) a large sketchbook (from Åhlens, a department store in Vällingby)
g) a hunting knife (from a local hardware store)
h) a lollipop (from Sabis)
i) T-Röd bottles (from the ICA grocery)

Okay, Snus tins for sure.
T-Röd bottles. What does he need a de-icer for?
Lollipop? Because the sweetshop guy gives him one?

Okay, 'e) Snus tins' - is correct... Oskar does not steal any snus tins.

I could have put down
j) Pistol shooting trophy
l) yellow sun dress
as these are things also 'expropriated' during the novel. But they were not aquired by Oskar. And the point of this is to call out that Oskar does his share of 'pilfering'.

Totally agree with that and I'm sure the question never enters into Eli's head.
And I'll have to add that Eli's choice of clothes (film) is absolutely wonderful IMO. In fact they could put Lina in a hessian sack with wooden clogs and she'd still be cute as a button.
