Pissball! What a job of work you've done. Your post is going to take time for me to think about it, although it's all very familiar. Great to see it laid out so clearly. 8-)

The novel is marvelously complex with its subplots. The interrelationships drive the story along. And from it, yet, there was wonderful movie, one that was brilliantly reduced out of the novel's threads, cutting to the core of the story.

Additional subplots from the novel could be
  • Lacke and Virginia's relationship
  • Staffan / Yvonne / Tommy's relationships
  • Oskar and his mother's relationship
  • Oskar and Tommy's relationship
  • Tommy / Robban / Lasse's relationship
  • Jimmy and Jonny's relationship
  • The squirrel in the king's park 8-)
