I only concentrated on their face. :)
A picture is worth a thousand words. What a beautiful way to present androgyny! :D

I'm with intrigue on this one, minus the freckles this is definitely Eli to me.
I also managed to spot someone with a likeness to Lina Leandersson on tv this morning.

I have tried to picture and draw Eli based on Oskar's description, the one he gives at their first jungle gym encounter:
  • "There was something strange about her. Shoulder-length black hair, small nose. Like one of those paper dolls in Hemmets Journal. Very . . . pretty." [from the Kindle edition, p. 37]
  • "Das Mädchen sah seltsam aus. Halblange, schwarze Haare. Ein rundes Gesicht, eine kleine Nase. Wie eine dieser Ausschneidepuppen auf dem Kinderseiten von Hemmets Journal. Sehr... süß." [So finster die Nacht, s. 54] ~ "The girl appeared strange. Medium length black hair, small nose. Like one of these cut-out dolls from the children's pages of Hemmets Journal. Very ... sweet/pretty."
Having looked up what these cut-out dolls looked like, especially their round faces, small noses and big eyes, I have trouble crossing this image against the one I have instilled in me from having seen Lina in the role.

It seems the German translation is a little bit closer to the original than the English one. Eli is described as having half-long hair (halvlångt) in the Swedish text. Now what would that say? Well, there is a term "shoulder length" (axellångt) in Swedish, which makes me think that Eli's hair was not quite as long as shoulder length, but still rather long.

Here's a picture of a known actor, who sports what I would consider half-long hair.

But from the beginning Eli was just Eli. Nothing. Anything. And he is still a mystery to me. John Ajvide Lindqvist

Well don't I look good! Oh, wait, that's not me. Darn.

For me, some of the most striking images I've seen of Eli were from ofelia as here and here and this one by intrige.

Miette (Judith Vittet) in the City of Lost Children is exactly like Eli:

And she also has a adult brute on her side, though this is nothing like Hakan, it's the opposite:

And that makes me think what would be of Eli with a supposed "light hearted" guardian, who in order to save her, falls into darkness of murderer, but always loyal to her as her protector and saviour, something like a Golem.

The story would be pretty much the same, except the last part, in this case, this guardian instead of trying to rape ELi would still be loyal to her, so Eli would have a creepy indestructible zombie-vampire guardian for all eternity.

What a beautiful little girl. She definitely has a resemblance to movie Eli.I became infected by seeing LMI,then reading the novel and then LTROI.While reading the novel after LMI,I envisaged Eli and Oskar as Abbey and Owen even though they don't fit the descriptions in the book. Then I read LTROI and fell in love with that Eli and forever more my image of her is of Lina.
Please Oskar.Be me for a little while.

They certainly do look like they could be kindred spirits, and maybe even kin, but Miette's face is leaner and more angular.

There is something unique and asymmetrical about the shape of Lina's mouth.
