Been almost a year

Re: Been almost a year
I haven't watched my BluRay version for three or four months, but I watch key parts of it on my computer at home occasionally, and my Iphone every other day or so, while waiting in line, or to be served at a restaurant, etc. The infection is still quite active and healthy.

We never stop reading, although every book comes to an end, just as we never stop living, although death is certain. (Roberto Bolaño)

Re: Been almost a year
I come to this site on an almost daily basis, and whenever I do I'm immersed in the...how shall I put it?...the atmosphere, the essence, the spirit of LTROI. I do visit Eli and Oskar occasionally, but usually not by watching the film end-to-end. The great thing about DVDs is that -- like a novel -- you can skip thru the story to the parts you want to see at the time. It also helps that I have the film on my 'puter in its entirety (I really LOVE YouTube); that comes in handy when a quick reference is needed. My favorite part, though, has to be the very end, with Oskar sitting at the window on the train. That scene is synced perfectly with the music, especially at the moment when it fades to black, then the credits role. No matter how many times I watch that part, I always get a huge feeling of satisfaction.

I've watched the film only a small number of times - partly it's very well etched in my memory, and I always feel I should do it justice - no interruptions, undivided attention, etc.
Bli mig lite.

I know how some people hate reviving old threads, so I will apologize in advance. I thought I would celebrate my one year anniversary with LTROI. I don't remember the exact date I first saw it, as I saw it on cable after midnight a couple of weeks before Halloween. I watched it a couple of more times before the end of October and several more over the next two months before I bought the DVD and the book. After one year the same things that impressed me when I first saw LTROI impress me today: the soundtrack; the cimematography; the child actors. The movie's structure is open to interpretation and this creates a major point of continued interest for me. What one learns about Oskar and Eli in their changing relationship over the running time of the film is revealing; for me, psychologically revealing as this perspective that initially piqued my interest in rewatching LTROI. My infection is milder now than it was in my first six months, but it will be lifelong. LTROI is one of the best films of its decade and worth repeated watchings. I still look to see if it is going to run on cable even though I own the DVD!

Re: Been almost a year
I ussually watch it once a week, mostly on sunday evenings. And still after the hundred time I am able to find new little details. Unfortunatelly the german dubbing is so bad, that I am learning swedish for hours every day only in order to understand LTROI. And hopefully I am in 10 months (it 's been 2 months since I watched LTROI for the first time) also so infected like today.
