First draft of screenplay available online

I'm not going to put a link up here as I'm not sure that it's either legal or ethical to do that. However I will say that if anyone wants to read the first draft of Matt Reeves screenplay for 'Let Me In' if you go to the IMDB board for that title there's a thread that has a link to it.

If you do that you should be aware that it's the first draft (dated Feb 2009) and has almost certainly been changed since then. If you've never read a screenplay before now might be a good time to try, assuming that you don't mind spoilers

Oh damn me and my curiousity!!!

I am at a complete and utter loss. I really wish I hadn't read that, or that it underwent some massive, *MASSIVE* changes before filming... Some scenes are virtually identical, some have subtle alterations, and then some are radically different while brand new scenes not present in either the original or the book are added to completely change the context of the movie!

I seriously hope that they have some sort of serious Ace up their sleeve that I'm not seeing here. As written, Owen and Abby are radically different from Oskar and Eli, and not remotely in a good way. There is no delicacy or subtlety present here. Just ham fisted methods of shovelling the points across to the viewer.

Now I have to spend the evening watching LTROI, just to get this bad taste out of my mouth.

Ha! I clicked on your spoiler but then averted my gaze just in time. I have avoided reading that draft (although I downloaded it when it first appeared last year). There doesn't seem to be much upside for me in reading the draft. My reasoning is: If Let Me In is great, knowing spoilers would really suck. If it turns out to be awful, knowing spoilers would only make watching it even worse. When I do watch it, it will be bad enough sitting there in suspense, trying to let myself get immersed in the story while pushing the original film from my mind. I don't need to also be sitting there also wondering if this or that plot element from the draft will show up.

Besides, as someone has recently quoted Hemingway as saying: The first draft of everything is crap. Having written some fan fic myself, I can definitely verify that statement!

Unfortunately I agree, which is why I don't go out looking for these things. However, I am a combination of two things: incredibly curious and easily bored. Add these two elements together, and, well, bad things happen.

I'll try and refrain from mentioning the surprise "twist" ending where it turns out that Eli... er... I mean Abby is really a modified Velociraptor that escaped from Jurassic Park that is desperately trying to save John Connor from the Terminator.

In contrast, I'm a sucker for spoilers. When page-by-page photos of the Deathly Hallows were leaked, I read the book from the photos because I couldn't wait for my copy to arrive in the mail. I know, I'm pathetic.

It would be cool to have a copy, even if I don't read it until after I see the movie. First drafts of scripts can vary quite a bit from the final script, or is it the "shooting script?"
